Won't Fix

Hello, I've started experiencing since start game crashes with GPU Overheated, which is definitely not the case, its RTX 4090 and runs with space engineers at best at 45% utilization with i7-13700k, temps for CPU never go above 70c, and GPU never above 58c, could you advise? I host games and every time I crash it resets us all for quite a bit and causes some item issues :(

Hello, Oskar S.,

thank you for reaching our forum regarding your issue.

What exactly is happening on your side, please? When is the game crashing? Is it in some specific case, after following some set steps, or is it just random?

Is this happening only when you are hosting the game (is it through our dedicated server app in Steam or any other option/provider)? Does this issue happens as well when you try to play e.g. in single player, or just connected as player to any other server (preferably Keen official)?

Are there any mods active on the said game world? If yes, can you please try to take the mods out, play the game vanilla (without any mods, scripts, plugins) and let me know if you are experiencing the issue also like this?

First of all, I would suggest you to try our general fixes/workarounds as bellow:

  • Verify your game files in Steam – right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) – you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder – same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Please let me know if anything from this list works for you. If not, please answer my questions and send me logs from your game. It would be best if you can provide both - player's and server log.

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers. (that would be your player's log)

If you are using our dedicated server to run the server, the logs for that can be found in the same place, just go to Roaming/SpaceEngineersDedicated.

Thank you.

Kind Regards

All of the above is done, it happens usually on high speed travel with jetpack on earth, what I did is decrease grass density from 3 to 0 based on suggestion in another thread, so far that seems to work, though weird bug.

Hello, Oskars S.,

thank you for writing back to me.

Thank you for sharing the workaround here. Please, give it some time and let me know if that has really solved your issue.

I tried according the info from you, but no luck. What do you mean by "high speed"? Are you using any mod for that? If yes, is the issue still happening, when not using this mod and flying max 110 m/s?

If the game crashes again, please share me the log file as asked before.

Thank you.

Kind Regards

no no, just vanilla jetpack, though I also added now mod that nerfs it and makes it slow - so no more 110 m/s gliding but 40 m/s at max

I also have this issue. Disabling autosaves didnt work completely but it made the game somewhat playable. I am unable to add a crash log because I play on Geforce NOW and I cannot access any local files there due to security concerns I believe.

Hello, Oskars S.,

can I ask if the workaround fixed the crashing and you have been able to play without a problem since?

Thank you in advance.
