Strange Space Engineers Crash

B-Howard shared this bug 17 months ago
Won't Fix

Hery guys, I've been playing this game since you released it. Somehow this error started appearing. I checked the logs and they are a mess but which logs do you want to see the problem? One says it's having trouble opening to fullscreen, even when set to windowed (as you can see), same problem.

Let me know what's going on if you can or what log you need. It loads up fine, just drops to the screen you see when I try to load a game. New start, online or old save.

 Thanks

 BH

Hello, B-Howerd,

thank you for reaching our forum with your problem.

From what you are writing, I think there already was players with the similar/same issue.

If you are able to get at least into the game's Main menu, you can try to change the resolution and window mode there. Or if you are not able to get to Options – Display Settings from the game, you can try to locate this file on your PC and change the value manually.

For this, go to SE folder in Roaming, by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar, you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\. There you should be able to find a SpaceEngineers.cfg file. You can open in using e.g. notepad. Find line 90 and 92, that says

<Key>WindowMode</Key>

<Value xsi:type="xsd:string">1</Value>

By changing the number in line 92, you can change the Fullscreen setting here manually. It goes like: Windowed 0, Fullscreen window 1 and Fullscreen 2. Save the file and try to run the game.

Hope this will help you to solve your problem.

If not, can you please share me the log file?

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Please find the most recent SpaceEngineers_(date number)_(hours number) and send it to me so I can take a closer look myself.

Thank you,

Kind Regards
