My game isn't starting

Yutsuken shared this bug 18 months ago
Won't Fix

When I press start in steam, a process appears in the task manager, but the game does not start and it is impossible to kill this process. I have already tried to delete all the mods, the game and the folder in appdata, downloaded it on the other disk, checked all the drivers and tried to find any error associated with SE in event manager, but since even task manager cant close the process there is none. Also older version of the game(dx9 one) actually did start ,but up to date version doesnt start still. One of the dev tried helping me on steam board there might be some useful info. (https://steamcommunity.com/app/244850/discussions/0/6717729816413968883/) this is the link.

Here is log that I get when I try to start the game:

Hello, Yutsuken,

I am sorry you are experiencing this issue. Is this also happening every time you delete the appdata folder? What are all of the things you tried to do?

Also, please launch your game and after that share your latest log file with me as a whole text document.

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

You can also share your DxDiag with me. The guide is here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/open-and-run-dxdiag-exe-dad7792c-2ad5-f6cd-5a37-bf92228dfd85

I can also see that your game is not registering config file. Can you please check if it is present in the \Roaming\SpaceEngineers folder?

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

I recently added config file so log is now different and game has found it, but nothing else changed. Also tried downloading pirated version ,but it still had the same issue so it is probably something with my system. Also here is dxdiag.

Hello, Yutsuken,

thank you for the log. I noticed that you are launching an older version of Space Engineers, please update it to version 202 which is the latest update.

Can you also please update your Windows to the latest version?

Here are a few more things you can try:

Verify your game files in Steam

-Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

Delete ShaderCache folder

-Same access as SpaceEngineers.cfg

Restart Steam

Update graphic drivers

Hello,

thank you for the log. Can you launch any other more demanding game or is it only Space engineers?

You can try to install this package as it includes some files which help with problems launching the game: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

Did you manage to play in the past? When exactly or after which update did you start to notice this issue? Are you using multiple monitors? Is your computer overheating when you try to launch it?

Are you trying to launch it through Steam? If so, can you please completely uninstall the application and download it again after you restart your computer? Does it still not appear in the task manager?

Kind regards,

I can launch any other game, I have this problem only with SE. Last time I played it was some time last summer ,I dont have other monitors and my pc doesnt overheat after I launch SE.

I have already tried deleting my game ,restarting pc and instaling it again, didnt work.

Also you probably misunderstood ,but I have a process in task manager, but I cant close it with it, when I try to close it with Command Prompt or Process Explorer it says that such process doesnt exist even though I definetly can see it with Process Explorer and task manager.

I have directx, downloded program from site, it said that everything is right, definetly not the problem.

Hello,

since you have mentioned that you downloaded pirated version of our game I can no longer offer you support or accept more logs from you.

I can help you with the analysis but without reading any files as they can be potentially corrupted. You can try to launch the game on a different computer and see if it works. From everything I have gathered so far the issue seems to be hardware related and unfortunately I cannot help you with that.

Thank you for understanding.
