Game abruptly exits connecting to dedicated server unless same world is loaded in SP first

Stinky Waffles shared this bug 16 months ago
Won't Fix

When connecting to servers, my game seems to abruptly exit. I am not able to consistently reproduce this on public servers(it happens, sometimes), but I can 100% on my own dedi. Around the time the spawn selection should appear, the game just exits. Sometimes the respawn screen appears for about a second, others it's at 100% loading. This happens regardless of mods, I completely wiped all trace of SE and steam and did a fresh install to no avail. The world was also wiped and re-created as part of this testing which did not change anything.

The only way I can play is by downloading the world save, loading it in SP and spawning on a planet. If I then connect to a server without exiting the program it works fine until I exit the game, in which I need to repeat this process. I've never experienced this issue in any single player games. Attaching two sets of logs, the older timestamps are from when the game just exits, the second is successful dedicated server play. This also only started after the Automotons update in April, I've had no issues prior.

Hello, Stinky Waffles,

I am sorry you are experiencing this issue. Can you please try the following:

Verify your game files in Steam

-Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file

-You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

- It means your game configuration will be deleted

Delete ShaderCache folder

-Same access as SpaceEngineers.cfg

Reinstall VC Redist 2017

Update graphic drivers

Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Since you are saying that this only happens with your own dedicated server, can you please share your save file with me so I can have a look as well?

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated\Saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

I've attempted the suggested steps above and they did not change the outcome. Attaching a zip of the entire world.

Hello,

thank you for save. I tried to launch your game as dedicated server, however, it was working without a problem. I am attaching the save again, please try to launch it.

Does the game crash or just exists to main menu? Can you please provide me with another log from the latest crash?

Also can you please attach your DxDiag? You can follow this guide: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/open-and-run-dxdiag-exe-dad7792c-2ad5-f6cd-5a37-bf92228dfd85

You can attach it as a text document.

Are you using skipintro script? If so, please deactivate it.

Have you tried to fully update your Windows?

Are you using VPN?

Thank you in advance.
