Audio slider stuck on "0"

Solved

Hello! I purchased Space Engineers from Steam this past Thursday and I love the game, y'all did such a swell job. It really is incredible the level of detail and customization.

I do have one snag with the game, my audio sliders are stuck at "0". When I access the audio settings from the "Options" menu, I'm able to adjust the sliders, but once I leave/return to the "audio" menu, the sliders are back at "0".

I have sound for the loading screen that pulls up, but as soon as the very first main menu appears, there is no sound.

I have attempted the following troubleshooting steps to no avail.

1. Delete and reinstall Space Engineers, I completed this step multiple times

2. Check my sound frequency: it's set at 24bit, 48000 Hz

3. Checked my sound drivers for updates(the computer is about a week old)

4. Verified game files from the "properties" tab on Steam

5. Deleted the Space Engineers "cfg." file

6. Deleted the Space Engineers "Shadercache" file

7. Deleted the Space Engineers "Roaming" folder

8. I double checked that the operating system was fully updated.

I'll be attaching a log file, please please help. I love the game so much, I would hate to have to get a refund. I can really see myself playing this with friends for years to come.

I found this in the log file but I'm not sure what it means. I'm not very techy, my friend is helping me.

Hello, Christian Matthew Embler,

I am glad that you are enjoying our game and I am sorry that you are experiencing this issue. I looked into your log and noticed that you are missing a .cfg file. Did you delete it and a new one did not generate?

Have you got XAudio2 installed on your computer? If not, you can download it and see if it helps. Maybe your friend can help you out if you are unsure how to do it.

Also, please deactivate all of your mods and scripts. After this step you can also try to delete Space Engineers from your Steam. Make sure that all files and data are gone from the Roaming folder. After you reinstall, check if you have .cfg file and launch your game.

If none of these steps helped, please send me a newly generated log from your latest attempt.

Thank you in advance.

I did delete the .cfg file. I can see a .cfg file in my folders but are you saying that the log file shows no .cfg file?\

I do not have XAudio2 but I just downloaded it from this Microsoft website: "https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6871" Does it automatically just start working or do I turn it on somehow?

Ok, I unsubscribed from all the mods, but I'm not sure what scripts are. I'll go ahead and delete Space Engineers from steam and check the "Roaming" folder.

You are the best, thank you!

Testing.....

Reinstalling Space Engineers.....

Ok, I am still able to hear the intro music. But no music or sounds in the main menu, and none in the game.

Thank you for the prompt response! I'll attach the latest log file.

Hello, Christian Matthew Embler,

the link that you send me is to a website that contains only a presentation, not the software. Downloading it will not help you out.

Before you try to download the software can you please update your Windows 11 as there are known crashes and errors regarding XAudio2.

Thank you in advance for letting me know if it worked.
