Players stuck on "Joining world" if modded planets in the modlist

Herman A shared this bug 19 months ago
Solved

Localhost, PC.

When we use moded planets - people get stuck at the "joining world" phase.

Tried waiting for 15 minutes to no avail. Even 1 moded planet in the list completely blocks from joining. Same issue if the planets are not spawned - other players can't join infinitely getting stuck at "joining world".

We have checked and people are able to join if no modded planets are added to modlist. Other players have downloaded mods via Steam collection.

The issue seems to persist with planets from different authors.

Hello, Herman A,

I am sorry you are experiencing this issue. Can you please provide me with a save where you are experiencing this error? Also listing the mods which are causing this behavior would be greatly appreciated.

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated\Saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

Hello. Thank you for the reply.

Here are the planet mods we tested. We tested these ones by one around 3 weeks ago, but I do not have that save now. I have only tested these in bulk currently (I know, not the wisest decision considering custom voxel colors won't load with this many planets):

Atlas, Kimi & Qun, Luma, Orlunda, Planet Anteros, Satreus, Teal, Thanatos, Tohil, Trelan

I am attaching 3 save files, one with only these moded planets loaded for testing purposes (File "Test_Only_planet_mods_doesnt_work"), file of our actual game save with planets loaded after the fact (File "HubHub2023_2_planets_test_doesnt_work") and a file of our actual game save, which we have successfully managed to load at the time of our testing today (File "HubHub2023_2_actual_game_no_planets_works").

I waited around 15 minutes in each of the tests where the second player was trying to join a game to hang at "Joining world" screen, after that, I finished testing.

Hello, Herman A,

thank you for the saves and list of mods. I tried to launch it and join in with second player, however it worked normally. None of the mods are broken or are causing this issue. I need client logs/logs from dedicated server from you and details on your server setup to try to determine where the problem is.

Ask other players for logs from when they tried to join in. They will find them here: type %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

You will access your logs from dedicated server here: type %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated.

Thank you in advance.

Hello, sorry for the late reply.

We host a game from my own PC, using ingame option, how do I access the logs in this case?

Hello, Herman A,

if you are hosting the server from your computer you can find the logs here: type %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated. Just find the latest log from the time you started the server and someone tried to connect.

Also please include your logs from here: type %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers. There again please try to find the latest log.

If possible can you please also ask the other players for their logs? They can find them in the same folder as you: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Thank you in advance.

Hello again! Sorry for the late reply again.

I have created a new save and have added 2 mods (Kimi & Qun, Luma)

Have tried connecting for about 30 minutes. I attach logs with the corresponding namings added. I would like to clarify that I am hosting from the in-game menu option, no ded. server involved.

Hope this will be helpful

Kind regards,

Herman
