Crash when joining server

Hi,

My game keep crashing when I try to join an online server.

This seems random as I could join the server this evening, once. While I couldn't this morning even after more than 10 tries. Now I can't join and my game crash again every time I try to join.


I removed shadercache, restarted my PC, tried to connect to a local game before connecting to the server, tried to connect to another server (with success) before joining the server. Nothing worked.

Could you please share further information concerning this issue?

It seems that the server you are attempting to join is modded (has active MODs), did your game crash when joining this particular server only, or the issue persists with other servers as well?

If the crashes are only happening on this particular server, the MODs on the server may be causing the crashes.

Kindly try the following workarounds that might resolve the issue ;

Verify your game files on Steam

  • Right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file

  • It means your game configuration will be deleted
  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Delete ShaderCache folder

  • Same access as SpaceEngineers.cfg
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update GPU/graphics drivers (or, clean install) & switch GPU driver settings to high-performance (i.e. not quality/high quality)
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

If the issue persists, kindly send us the latest log from when the crash happened.
