"Learning to Survive" Unintended Solution to Final Boss

shadow 8472 shared this bug 17 months ago
Won't Fix

I just finished "Learning to Survive" for the first time. My solution was a drone swarm designed with printability in mind; 12 AI drones + 1 player-controlled lead drone -- all deployed with small merge blocks.

I jumped straight to the boss ship, realized my mistake, and started booking it out of there. I ended up in a chase at about 25 m/s, but then my lead drone refused to allow me to remote control it.

Trouble is the boss de-spawned while I was troubleshooting the remote control. I got the badge and Steam achievements for completing and surviving the scenario as if I had destroyed the commander ship. A bit anticlimactic, if you ask me.

So, I suppose this is two bug reports in one. I have no clue how to reproduce the merge block/remote control, but I assume one can hang out around the boss (I'm told by Dan2D3D on Keen Software House's Discord/#help-se that there are multiple candidates) and wait for it to de-spawn.

Hello, engineer!

Thank you for writing to us.

Just to clarify, did you have 12 AI drones that were intended for attacking the commander ship, along with 1 remote-controlled lead drone that couldn't be controlled remotely? If this is indeed the case, while you were repairing the lead drone, were the other AI drones still attacking the commander ship? If so, it is possible that those other AI drones could have destroyed the commander ship, resulting in you receiving the achievements.

If, however, the situation was different and the commander ship either de-spawned or was destroyed on its own, we kindly request that you provide us with additional information about it.

Did you have any MODs activated in the world or a plugin installed? If so, we suggest checking if the issue persists when you remove the MODs or deactivate the plugin.

If the issue continues to occur, we kindly request that you send us a screen recording or video showing the issue happening on your end. Additionally, please send us the world save file where the issue occurred, along with the log file from when the issue took place.

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.
  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards,
