Server stops when starting with no error

I am trying to run this on my VPS for me and my friend and I have installed the redistributables for the server, but I get up to [Remote Server Listener started. Listening on port 8080] and then the server stops without outputting an error on the console.

Can you please provide me more information?

By VPS, you mean Virtual private server?

Did you also try to run the dedicated server on your PC directly? If done like this, is the server and the game working as expected?

Does this happen with every world that you try to start and load from the DSGUI on the virtual private server, or just one one/few?

Can you please share me a log file from the server that you try to start and it fails?

Normally, when started by using the DSGUI directly on the PC, you can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated.

You can try these fixes/workarounds first and see if that changes anything:

  • Verify your game files in Steam – right-click on Space Engineers Dedicated Serve app in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) – you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated.
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Dedicated Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall the DS app
