Event Controller keeps re-starting Timing Block

Christoph Lipka shared this bug 12 months ago
Won't Fix

Prerequisites:

- Set up a Timing block to perform some actions after a certain time (e.g. 5 sec.)

- Set up an Event Controller to start (rather than trigger) the Timing Block, based on an event that will persist (e.g. angle of a hinge exceeding a certain value)

Expected Behavior:

- When the Event Controller's trigger condition is met, it should start the Timer Block, which in turn should trigger after the chosen delay.

Observed Behavior:

- The timer fails to trigger, as it keeps being re-started by the Event Controller.

Suggested Solutions:

(a) The Event Controller should refrain from performing a "Timer Block - Start" action if the timer is already running.

(b) Instead, to preserve consistency, add a dedicated "Timer Block - Start (Unless Already Running)" action.

Hello, Christoph Lipka,

I am sorry you are experiencing this issue. I tried to setup a simple grid just as you described. However the event controller started the timer block every time. Could you share further information with us?

Sharing your save file and or blueprints and video would be very helpful to me.

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.
  • You can access your blueprints files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Blueprints. Select the correct folder where your blueprint is saved (local or cloud), zip the file and attach it here.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
