Problems with Intel Arc A770 16GB drivers in SE

Brad Petrie shared this bug 18 months ago
Won't Fix

MIYUKI   13 hours ago       Intel A770 crashing video driver after playing 1 session and trying to run second session laterRestarting clears this issue apparently.

Intel driver 31.0.101.4255 (Mar 16 2023) crashes when trying to play SE again after having completed a previous session successfully with no crash.

Originally posted by Dan2D3D:Hi is it the same in new created world No Mods and No Plugins or it happens in on;lyone specific save ?

No mods used, fresh world generated (Solar system, starting on the earthlike).

After completing gaming session of about 1 hour, I went out and left my PC on.

Coming back, load the game again and try to play second session. Loading the savegame, during loading is when the crash occured.

Swapped back to my 1660ti, and the issue is gone - can play the game without issues in multiple sessions.

Should point out that while using the Arc, and the nVidia, both were used after having removed drivers in safemode, clean installed.

should also add as its directly relevant, other games also not working with that Arc driver.

Forza 5 crashes on map load - works fine since swapping back to nVidia 1660ti

Final Fantasy 14 - Playing a session is fine. Quit, and play another session again later and the game performs very poorly (no restart in between). Issues resolved by restart. Issues resolved by swapping back to nVidia 1660ti.

So, this issue is not specific to Space Engineers.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Keen Software House.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues.

While it really seems like the culprit in this case is the driver update, and you are not limited to this issue, as it can be solved by using the nVidia GPU, would you mind to share with us the log from the affected game session, please? So we can take a look anyway and try to evaluate.

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Thanks.

Kind Regards

Keen Software House

Sure, there are 12 log files over the 2 days I was experiencing this issue prior to switching back to my nVidia card. Not sure which one you need, or which is useful. The issue did occur several times during these 2 days (and not prior, as the game was uninstalled until just recently).

I have zipped them all and attached here.

Hello, Brad Petrie,

thank you for the logs. The exception in you log is a generic DirectX error indicating that the GPU driver is crashing/has crashed. I would suggest you to update your graphic drivers (clean install), you can also try to switch GPU driver settings to high-performance. This could be also a HW issue, please check your GPU temperature.

You can also try to lower your settings in game so it uses less memory and close any applications running in the background.

Since you are experiencing crashes in multiple games, I would say the problem is indeed the hardware itself.

Please, let me know if you are still experiencing this issue.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,
