[1.202.066 default] Can't use antennas as reference beacon for AI Recorders

Adam Howard shared this bug 18 months ago
Not a Bug

When using the AI Recorder to add a waypoint with a reference beacon (the drone is large grid, the reference beacon ship is large grid), I can only see beacons in the list, not antennas.

The name 'reference beacon' makes me think this is intended, but as far as I was aware, until now an Antenna could do everything a beacon could do (and more), so there was no need for both.

Is this intended? do you now need both again?

yep, a beacon is like a moving gps coord and the drone need gps coord.

this make the beacon useful.

the antenna is for sending/reciving signial with source of the signial show on hud.

It should also be pointed out that you can use a beacon as a destination for a jump drive (if they are in range), but not an antenna.

With this in mind, I would say that the beacons now provide "targeting data" which makes them a more useful block.

Hello, Adam!

Thank you for writing to us.

Yes, it is intended behavior.

Beacons are for broadcasting positions, whereas antennas are for transmitting and receiving information.

Since there is nothing bugged/broken, we are closing this thread.

Thank you for your understanding.

Kind regards,
