Space engineers won't start after automatons update

Eemil Tuomonen shared this bug 18 months ago
Won't Fix

The game won't start after automatons update. Steam says it's running and if I try to start it from EXE multiple times it says the game is already running. It is clearly doing something sense both say it's running but nothing happens. I verified the files through Steam.

My PC specs

CPU i5-2400

GPU RX 570

8 GB

OS Windows 10 AME

Hello Eemil,

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue.

We wonder if the log you have shared is the correct one that was generated when this issue actually occurred. If the log is indeed the correct one, it appears to be incomplete. Without a complete log, we are unable to identify the actual error or exception that is causing the issue.

To help you resolve the issue, we recommend trying the following workarounds.

Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file

  • It means your game configuration will be deleted
  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Delete ShaderCache folder

  • Same access as SpaceEngineers.cfg
  • Backup your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

If the issue persists, please send us the complete log when the issue occurs again.

Kind Regards,

Keen Software House: QA Department

Okay, I tried those, but it didn't work, so reinstalled space engineers and AMD drives still doesn't start. As for the operating win 10 AME 21h1 is the newest AME version. Here is the newest log.

Is there anything else I can do? I have now checked that antivirus doesn't interfere. I even tried to fix it, same way than on Linux, by adding Microsoft.VS.VC_RuntimeAdditionalVSU_amd64,v14 in reg editor.

Update! Now when I tried to start the game I got an admin prompt about Microsoft Common Language Runtime native compiler and then the game started.
