Ore detector issues on desktop pc

Kyle Tanner shared this bug 19 months ago
Won't Fix

So I'm having issues with ores not showing up no matter what I do. I am playing on a modded server. But before we blame the mods I don't think that's the issue. If I play on my laptop the ores show up fine. However on my desktop pc Ores will not show up and I noticed my cockpit lcds don't stay lit despite having plenty of power. It happens in my fellow friends ships too for me but not for them. Everyone else can see ore but me. My pc has 32GB RAM and a 3060ti so the pc is plenty powerful to handle the game. Not entirely sure what to do. I've validated files and such with no issues.

Hello, Kyle!

Thank you for writing to us, and we are sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue.

Could you kindly provide additional information about the issue?

Are you using the same Steam account on both your PC and laptop? We ask because if you are using different accounts, you may be missing some DLCs on your PC's Steam account, which could be causing the different experiences on your PC and laptop.

If the accounts are the same on both devices, could you kindly verify the game files on your PC's Steam? To do so,

  • Right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

If the issue persists, please try changing your Graphic and Display settings. To do so,

  • From the Main Menu → click on Option → Display → change Video Adapter and Window/Video Mode → click on OK

To change the graphic setting,

  • From the Main Menu → click on Option → Graphics → change Quality Preset to Low/Medium/High → click on OK

Please also make sure that there are no active plugins in your game. Start a new vanilla (no active MODs) world, paste the affected ore detector ship there, and see if the issue persists. You can also try placing a new ore detector block on a new grid and see if the results differ.

If the issue persists, kindly send us a screen recording/video showing the issue at your end, the vanilla world save where we can reproduce this issue, and log files when experiencing this issue.

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.
  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

We look forward to assisting you with this issue further.

Kind Regards,
