Saving old File cannot be loaded

Solved

Hello.

I loaded up an old file from 2018. The game told me it will automatically convert the format to a newer version. Playing the save works perfectly fine. Reloading it does not.

I tried everything from google:

-Loading without mods

-Loading backup file

-SETool

but nothing seemd to work. Is there any way i can restore my world?

Attached are the two saves.

The save labeled "90" is the corrupted save after loading and saving the original save. The original save is unfortunatly to big to send here.

Thanks in advance

McFly

Hello, engineer!

We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue.

After examining the provided world save, it seems that the issue may have occurred due to outdated or broken MODs that were previously compatible but have not been updated to be compatible with the latest version of the game, which could have led to world corruption, and removing them may not necessarily resolve the issue since loading the save without them may not work.

Please note that we do not support MODs, it is the creator's responsibility to update them.

We would appreciate it if you could inform us whether this issue pertains only to this particular world save or to any vanilla (without any active MODs) world save (old or new) as well.

If you experience the same issue in any vanilla world, kindly send us the world save and log file when experiencing this issue.

  • You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.
  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards,

Hello, thanks for the quick reply!

I found an older version of the save where we didnt use any mods. That vanilla version is fully playable and saveable at 1.192 but gives up the same error when saving and reloading in the newest version of the game.

Furthermore i looked trough the Log data and the only Error which seemd critical to me was:

2023-04-04 17:50:12.422 - Thread: 12 -> ERROR Entity init!: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at Sandbox.Game.Entities.MyProxyAntenna.Init(MyObjectBuilder_EntityBase objectBuilder)
at Sandbox.Game.Entities.MyEntities.InitEntity(MyObjectBuilder_EntityBase objectBuilder, MyEntity& entity, Boolean tolerateBlacklistedPlanets)"
which appears twice in the log.

I attached files of the 2 Vanilla saves

(V1 is the loadable version which is not loadable after saving. And the other one V2 is the non loadable version of V1)

I attached the Log file in the rar as well.

I hope you can help me fix the issue!

Best regards,

McFly

Found the issue, thank you for bringing this up. You can wait for the fix, or you can try fixing it even without our update, by doing certain strange things prior to saving the world. This may sound crazy, but you need to fix that pirate base you raided. Go there, power it, make sure both antenna and beacon are working, then go outside its' range so it despawns from the world, and only then save your game :)

Just make sure if you try this that you have autosave disabled, to not mess it up before doing things mentioned above.
