Solved

Hello,

may you advice with my problem with SE? I play on game laptop: MSI Delta 15 A5EFK; CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX with Radeon Graphics; Memory: 16 GB @ 1600 MHz - 8192 MB, DDR4-3200, Samsung M471A1K43EB1-CWE and - 8192 MB, DDR4-3200, Samsung M471A1K43EB1-CWE; Graphics:  AMD Radeon RX 6700M, 4095 MB, Graphics: AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics, 512 MB

My problem is during game. When I stard SE to menu, everything is ok, when I start SE to game appear some artefacts of shape of rectangle and game crashed in few seconds. I attached photos of problems. When I played with AMD Radeon RX 6700M, 4095 MB, appeared this problem. With integrated AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics is everything ok but with integrated graphics cant be played because so horrible and low details.

I did buy MSI laptop in december 2022, drivers are new from march 2023, problem with overheating is not true.

Thank you for your service, I appreciate it and hope that will soon play SE.

Hello, Martin Koranek,

I am sorry you are experiencing this issue. Could you share further information with us?

Sharing your logs would be very helpful with identifying the issue.

- You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

Hello, Martin,

thank you for providing the files.

Please, first of all, can you try these workarounds on your end?

  • Verify your game files in Steam – right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) – you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder – same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Let me know after you perform all of these steps whether the issue is still the same on you end.

Does this issue happen to you in every and each game (new, saved) that you start/load or is it limited just to few/some? Can you try to load only the Empty world and let me know if the issue is the same there?

Did you try to lower the details on this card that you are having the issues with?

You are using just one monitor for playing, right? Are you sure you are using the dedicated card and not the other way around? I read that the game is crashing on your dedicated card and working fine on the integrated one. Can you please re-check?

Please also make sure that there are no 3rd party software turned on/running that you do not need when playing; e.g. manufacturer SW that can use your GPU on background.

However, your logs are full of HRESULT: [0x887A0005] errors. Sadly, this indicates more of a technical problem of your PC than the fact that the issue is on the game side. Even more, if you are saying that you can run the game on one card, but not with the other. If you take a look into the log yourself, you can see further in the error message "DEVICE_REMOVED". This clearly indicates that the graphic chip might not be connected or installed properly.

Since you are mentioning that you have updated the drivers just recently... was the issue present in your game even before this updates? If no, can you please try to roll back to previous driver?

Let me know of your current state after performing these steps mentioned above.

If nothing would have work for you, can you please send me new set of logs? Please send us only the logs, this time. No need to send whole SE folder again. Send us just the txt logs (on top in the SE folder) of the game session where you experience the crash.

It might also help if you could send us the log from Windows event viewer. Please see the guide where to find and, how to use it and for what to keep an eye on once opened here:

Thanks.

I did verify integrity of game. I did delete file like you said from %appdata%. I did try reinstal VC Redist 2017. I did updage graphics card drivers, check my operation system update (try instal from windows 10 to 11) and I did try reinstall all Space engineers. My problem is not solved.

This problem is only if I start all new game or loading my saves. On display appear some artefacts shape of rectangles and game crashed in few seconds.

Yes, I did try to lower the details. But it doesnt make sense because my laptop is very efficient. Problem is not solved if I to lowed the details.

Yes, I did try play game with my integrated grahpics card without problem but the details are so horrible and game looks like 30 years old. When I choose on menu my second graphic, game looks perfect bud appears artefacts and in few seconds crashed. Is it way how to choose dedicate and other card?

Yes, I use only one monitor. Only my laptop display.

My laptop has been checked by the IT person. He said that everything is ok with my laptop. We did try play other games with demands for high performance requirements. Everything is ok so is it proof that my graphic card have to be ok.

Hello, Martin,

thank you for writing back to us.

However, according your logs you provided before, it really seems like a HW issue on your side. Please see the discussion with the same issue/same error here.

Please note the "Update" right on top of the discussion: "Found a single hair in my PCIe slot". From this, you can see that cards and their connection to PCI are rather vulnerable to any physical/mechanical change/removal/not being 100% connected to PCI. Or you laptop might be just dusty inside.

It might be also good practice if you would be able and willing to use the PC duster and some PC thermal paste on your PC's components.

Not sure if the IT person you are speaking about checked also the PC hardware when the laptop cover is removed, or was it only SW benchmarks and tests.

Really, since the game is working fine on the integrated GPU, it seems that there is no issue with the game itself - it is totally able to run on your PC, just not with the card you want to use.

Anyway... if you are still experiencing this issue, can you please send me the logs as requested in my last comment? Sent me both, please – logs from the game (you can try to share both; one when running the game with the integrated card and the other when running with the dedicated one) and the logs from Windows event viewer.

Without these, we are not able to tell you more at the moment. Sorry.

Kind Regards
