Space Engineers not launching

Won't Fix

So my friend bought SE for me and anytime I try to launch it, it doesn't launch. It'll say that it has launched on steam but I looked in task manager and it was not there. I have tried reinstalling it on different harddrives and verifying the integrity of the files but none of those worked.

I am sorry you are experiencing this issue. Can you please try the following:


  • Verify your game files in Steam
    -Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file
    -You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
    - Since the log states "No config file found" can you check that there is really none in the roaming/se folder? If none can be found, please let us know. If some is present there but apparently not working, try to delete it and run the game.

  • Delete ShaderCache folder
    -Same access as above

  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated


You can also try to ask your friend to share their SpaceEngineers.cfg file with you and you can try to launch the game. Just replace it with your current one in the \Roaming\SpaceEngineers folder.


If nothing works then please share your Windows event viewer log with me. You can go to this site: https://www.spaceengineersgame.com/troubleshooting/game-will-not-start-issues/ There you will find the more fixes and also a guide to find the event viewer log.


Also, if you manage to launch the game but you are still having issues, then please share your log file with me.

I've tried all of the possible things I could do that you've said and as well on the other website but none of them worked. I had my friend send me his .cfg file but that didn't change anything. Also, I can't find the Space Engineer log in the Event Viewer.

Hello,


I am sorry to hear none of these things worked.


Uninstall the game through Steam and make sure that everything is gone from the Roaming and Steam file, there should be no leftover files at all. If still some present, please delete those manually. After you make sure that there is nothing left, restart you PC, install the game anew, restart your PC and try to launch the game.


Also try to delete the skipintro from launch options which could be causing the game to not launch,


Last thing you can try is to reinstall windows.


Try to run the game. If your issue still persists then please send me your log file. Please, also send me your .cfg file and try to look into the event viewer and send me that log as well.


You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.


Are you using integrated graphics card? What hardware are you using?

Tried doing what you said but it didn't work. Though I was able to start playing SE on an older version 1.190 and older but if I go past the 1.190 update it won't start.


Had to change the .cfg file a .txt for it to upload.


The hardware I am using is


CPU: Intel Core i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER

Ram: 16Gb

Hello,


thank you for the cfg file. I tried to run the game with your file and I was able to launch it. I am attaching it slightly modified here (it did work for me with this one).


1. Download it and keep the file aside for further reference. Then make a copy of it and paste it to your roaming folder (also delete the one you had there before, so there is only one cfg file). Then try to launch the game with it. If it does not still work try to compare the two files (the one that I send to you and you kept it aside and the one you tried to launch the game with now). If the data again gets deleted then you will have to fix it manually by over writing the file. Just open it in notepad.


You can see here that the data are different:

Please note that if the texts (data, value etc.) are still missing in the cfg file then add them manually and save them, then try to run the game.


2. If you are at least able to launch the game then please send me the log if the game still does not work. You can find it in the roaming folder as well. It ends with .log and the time of modification should match the time when you tried to launch the game.


3. You can also try to launch Steam in admin mode.
