[Automaton Beta] AI does not relinquish control after being disabled

Jay Kudakaev shared this bug 20 months ago
Solved

TLDR - Once (Move) takes control, it won't relinquish it even if no behaviours are being fed to it, unless you disable it.

Setup

- Have AI Flight (Move); AI Any (Move) installed and enabled

- Give the (Task) block any command that will get the ship moving - for example, follow waypoints

- Ship now on autopilot, you can't control it - as expected.

- Turn off AI behaviour (Task) block / let it complete the waypoints

- Ship still reports autopilot enabled, despite AI behaviour disabled.

I have experienced something similar while trying to do a drone setup on a fighter for testing them out, but i did not set any waypoints.

Hello, Jay,

I'm happy to announce that the fix for this issue is already done on our side and it will be introduced in the next major release.

However, the actual fix for this issue is that now it is not possible to control the ship with AI Flight block's AI Behavior turned On. When the AI Flight (Move) behavior is switched On, the autopilot is in control, ready for feed from other AI blocks. To be able to fly/control your ship at all, you would need to turn the AI Off completely.

Thanks for taking part in the beta.

Kind Regards
