i already contacted the mod.io support but they say that the problem is not on their side and sent me for that an api link to download a mod. and because that worked it means that the connection to mod.io works fine and the game itself just cant download the mods from mod,io

I already try'd reinstalling the game.

I un-checked and checked again the mod.io aggreement.

I used experimental mode.

I tried turning off my Firewalls.

I tried several Servers with mods for testing.

I tried restarting my computer.

I tried using different internet connections ( wired: nat-type 2, mobile hotspot: nat-type 3)

I tried even to trick the game and put the mod files in the mods folder manually and/or the cache folder.

Nothing works. Even the mod.io Support has no more ideas.

They said i should contact you. And here i am

Please help me.

Note: the short message that the ticket was closed was a miss-click. the problem isnt solved

i found out that it has something to do with the GDPRConsent in the Space Engineers Config file. Because if i set it to false in the config before starting the game and accept it then ingame again it is a temporary fix. But i have to do that every time..

Hello, Justin,

thank you for contacting us.

Can you please share me more information?

You probably know that you are far from minimal requirements nowadays the game has, right?

The current requirements are as follows:

https://www.spaceengineersgame.com/system-requirements/

But I take it you were (and are?) able to play the game without issues in the past or on different game modes (single player, lobby mode...)?

You are writing that you tried also other modded servers. Any luck there? Were you able to connect properly? Was it Steam or EOS servers? Did you experience the same issue while downloading mods there, or it went through without issues and you are able to join there?

Are there any other players on the affected server as well? Are these able to connect properly, or have the similar symptoms as you do?

What server exactly are you trying to join? What mod is used there? Can you please share the mod.io link to the mod?

Can you please try to delete the cfg file you can find in your %appdata% SE folder, so the (your local, if any) settings are deleted and created anew?

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards

Hello

More Information is well said. I dont know what specific information you need.

To answer your questions:

- the game runs fine on minimum graphic settings. okay i never tried to use better graphic settings because i like it so

- i never had this issue because i never tried to join an EoS Server that has mods before. i only used steam mods

- i tried many modded servers but only server with steam workshop mods worked. when i try to join a server with mod.io mods it fails

- when i open the web browser (firefox) i can download the mods from the website but when i try via ingame mod search to download from mod.io it shows authentication error in the log.

- its not only one server and through searching i found a few of other players in the internet that has that problem. and no one that got the problem found a way to fix it

- i tried not only one mod. i tried many mods. none worked.

now to your last question which had some strange results: Yes i tried to delete the config file and to join then any server that has mods from mod.io and it worked BUT when i closed the game and opened it again the problem is there again and i found the out why. in the SpaceEngineers.cfg is the line:

<item>

<Key>GDPRConsent</Key>

<Value>

<Value xsi:type="xsd:string">True</Value>

</Value>

</item>

<item>

<Key>GDPRConsentSentUpdated</Key>

<Value>

<Value xsi:type="xsd:string">true</Value>

</Value>

</item>

when i set both to false and start the game it askes me to agree or to disagree. as long as i chose yes or no and dont click the window away it works and i can download mods from mod.io like everyone else. but as soon as i close the game and re-open it it stops working again. my current temporary fix is to change the code lines every time to "false" before i start the game. but there must be an permanent fix.

and to my pc specs: i have an Alienware M17xR4 with an GTX 660M, 16gb RAM, i7-3630QM and windows 7 ultimate installed (not upgrade-able because no drivers aviable for higher windows versions). i have an 1tb ssd and more than enough free space.

when i buy'd and installed the game the first time (05/2022) i fullfilled the minmal requirements (based on what steam said)

Yes i have an temporary fix found but not only that i am not the only one with this problem, its more than annoying to edit this code lines every time before i start the game. do you have by any chance an permanent fix for this?

best regards, M3veronMast3r / Justin.

Hello, Justin,

thank you for your reply.

Are you absolutely sure you agreed to both – Terms of use and Privacy policy – in the game properly? Can you please recheck in the game? Options -> Game -> Mod.io Consent (right side of the screen). Take a look on my image.

If yes, and the behavior is still the same, you can try to use cfg file from some other player, where this is already set properly. Or you can try to use mine, if you are willing. I have it set, agreed and observe no such issue on my end.

Just copy paste this into your %appdata%/SE folder.

Please let me know if this helps or you are experiencing the same issue even with other cfg file from player where it is working fine.

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards

YES. I am more than 100% sure. As i said i deleted the config file multiple times and when the file was new generated i had to accept the terms every time new. But that was not the Problem. The Problem was the GDPR Consent. Please read what i wrote. I deleted line by line in the config file (SpaceEngineers.cfg) and found through that out that if i change the line GDPR Consent & GDPR Consent Updated from true to false and answer then "yes" or "no" when the game starts the next time i can use mods from mod.io as long as i dont close the game. When i close the game i have the same problem again

just tried your file. here is the result: "downloading mods has failed". log is attached.

As i said it has something to do with the GDPR Consent. i dont really know what that is but as far as i know/understand has it something to do with the EU privacy rules. But not the Consent is the Problem. its the "GDPR Consent Updated". If that is set to false it askes me to accept or disagree the Consent. And if i dont Accept or disagree it every time i start the game i cant use mods from mod.io. And there it doesent matter if i try to join any Multiplayer Server or try to download mods in singleplayer. Mods from mod.io wont work if i dont get the message every time the game starts and i accept or disagree it every time

Hello, Justin,

thank you for letting me know about issue still present with my config file.

Can you please try to reinstall the game completely from scratch?

After uninstalling the game, please visit both places where the game stores data, and delete every possible leftover in the folders.

One is the %appdata% one; there, please delete everything (make a back-up folder on different place on your PC where you move saves, blueprints etc. that you want to keep). The Roaming/SE folder must be empty or deleted completely.

The other place is in: \Steam\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers

It is possible that even after uninstalling the game using Steam and/or Windows Add or remove programs function, there still might be some leftovers.

Once you do this and make sure that there are no leftovers in neither of the folders, restart you PC, install the game again, restart your PC again and try to run the game. Every setting, configuration, consent etc should be also reset. Make sure you Accept/Agree to everything.

If the issue will persist even after this, send me new log, please.

Kind Regards

Hello, i'm sorry but aren't you reading what i wrote?

Again: i reinstalled the again multiple times and through deleting file by file and line by line i found out that it has something to do with the GDPR Consent. Are you understanding this?

i did what you asked me to do before i even contacted Keen. And i checked your config file. its the same as the one that my game generated. And i mean fully the same. And for me the Game Files is stored at %appdata%/roaming/SpaceEngineers.

And when i uninstall the Game the "\Steam\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers" Folder disappears fully.

Should i make a Video to prove that all? That you can believe what i say?

If you believe me then you should start to figure out why the "GDPR Consent" has something to do with the Mod.io functionality. Because if i set "GDPR Consent" and "GDPR Consent Updated" in the config File to "false", start then the Game, click on "Yes" or "No" when the GDPR Windows pops up then i can use everything from mod.io until i close the game. with everthing i mean downloading mods in singleplayer from mod.io or joining any server that has mods from mod.io.

Nothing what i do changes it. So what are you ideas now?

Regards. M3veronMast3r / Justin Everding

Hello,

Unfortunately this issue sounds like SE may not be uninstalling correctly if the issue persists between installs.

I have noted that you include re-installing in your initial report.

In order to move forward with this I would like you to please confirm some additional steps.

Please uninstall Space Engineers.

Check the install folder in Stream and ensure that all files have been removed. If any persist, please delete them.

Please then check for the Application Data. You can find this through a Windows search via %appdata% and determine if, for any reason, any files have persisted.

You will very likely want to backup your Saves and Blueprints. Please keep in mind that when backing these up you should not save any additional files, as that may cause additional issues.

Once the install is complete, please launch SE and complete the Mod.io permissions.

If possible, please also include your Mod.io account in your response.

Looking forward to your response.

1. uninstalled Space Engineers

2. i deleted the %appdata%/roaming/SpaceEngineers Folder

3. i deleted the Steam/steamapps/comon/SpaceEngineers Folder

4. i reinstalled Space Engineers

5. i started Space Engineers, clicked on "Yes" when the GDPR Question came, accepted the Modio consent and enabled experimental mode because its not possisble to download mods from Modio without enabling Experimental mode. i joined an modded EoS Server with mods from Modio without any problems

6. i restarted the game and tried again to join an modded EoS Server. i got again the Problem "downloading mods has failed".

i hope it dont get deleted again..
