game locking up completely for at least 2mins

Solved

Hi there,

been trying to play the game a bit before I buy all the "new" dlc's (brought the game years ago never got around to playing)

i tried to load up a single player game with some mods, but as soon as i tried to accept the tos for the mods it started to lock up on the menu.

have since deleted and unsubscribed from the mods, verified my files, restarted and

  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) - you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder (same location as above)
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder (so you won´t loose you saves, blueprints and such) and delete it
  • Restart Steam

that i found though google, none of these help or did anything really.

i had a look though the latest log file(that i have attached) and the only error/fail is it "Failed to parse texture header" didn't think that would be enough to completely lock up my game for mins at a time but it is still going on with nothing of google helping, so im now here asking for help

pc specs:

i9-7920x

1080ti

16gb ram

any help would be appreciated

Hello, Mathew!

Thank you for writing to us.

After investigating the log you have shared, it seems the game couldn't find the config (.cfg) file. If possible, could you get the config file from a friend who also plays Space Engineers? Or, you can try SE's new/fresh installation by deleting every leftover in the Roaming/SE and Steam/SE folders.

If the issue persists, could you send us the screen recording/video showing the behavior on your end, the latest game log, and also the log from the Windows Event Viewer when experiencing this issue?

To get the Windows Event Viewer log, please open the Event Viewer (from the start menu, type Event Viewer). In Event Viewer, go to Windows Logs, Application, and send the top “.NET Runtime” error from Application: SpaceEngineers.exe. (please see attached image).

To do this right, please follow these steps:

1) Select the correct file on the left side (Application)

2) Select first the .NET runtime error from the top (using default ordering)

3) Copy the large bottom text and send it to us.

Please Note: make sure that the info is from the Application: SpaceEngineers.exe

We are looking forward to assisting you with this issue.

Hello, Mathew!

There should be just one config (.cfg) file named SpaceEngineers.cfg in the \Roaming\SpaceEngineers folder.

Hello,

i tried both of those and it didn't change.

interestingly on event viewer i dont have a .NET runtime error. i have a "Applincation Hang"

The program SpaceEngineers.exe version 1.0.0.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.

Hello, Mathew!

Thanks for your prompt response.

Could you help us with some further information about the issue?

Does the hang issue occur when you try loading a particular previously saved world that had active MODs, and due to the issue, you tend to deactivate the MODs for that particular save, but now, whenever you try to reload that particular world save, the game hangs up for you? Or does this issue also happen when loading a new/fresh unmodded (no active MODs) world?

Please also check if your OS is fully updated and if there are no pending updates.

We also noticed you have multiple displays/screens active. Could you try with a single screen/display active, and in a new/fresh world, does the issue still occur?

If you still experience the issue, kindly try Clean Installation of the game. To do so, back up all your blueprints and the world save files in a different folder. Uninstall the game from Steam and delete every leftover in the /Roaming/SE and /Steam/SE folders. Reinstall the game and check if the issue persists.

If you still experience the issue, please send us the latest log files and Windows Event Viewer log.

Hello,

so today, I fresh installed the game no mods, did a tiny windows update and restarted.

i have attached the files from

1 - main monitor

2/3 - main + 1 of the other monitors (did both)

4 - all 3 monitors

and for what ever reason, today I'm not getting and game hang's or stutters. this confuses me at little as this isn't the first time iv fresh installed without mod and ran the game. im also guessing that too use mods, you should have all the dlc as i presume the optimised to have all the dlc's installed

so I'm going to play for an extended time today just to see if its currently fixed.

thanks

Hello, Mathew,

thanks for coming back with the update.

Since the game seems to be working fine now on your side (and you didn't wrote back yesterday/today after extended play time), I will mark this one as solved.

If this – or any other issue – happens to you, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Happy Engineering!

Kind Regards
