I have not played Space Engineers for a long time, I have it on steam, I play it on the same PC with the same configuration as I used to.

But today, when i tried to launch the game a little window opens with : "installation of : Microsoft .NET Framework" then I wait and nothing happens.

I try to unistall/install Microsoft .NET Framework, I also checked a lot of forums but nothing fixes it. this problem is driving me crazy. can someone can help me ?

Hello, Franciscaz,

thanks for letting us know about the problem that you are experiencing.

Can you please share me your PC configuration?

Are you sure you are meeting the requirements (they changes through the time), since you are writing you didn't play for a "long time"?

Please try these fixes/workarounds on your side:

  • Verify your game files in Steam – right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) – you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder – same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Please let me know if anything from the list works on your side. If no, and you won't still be able to play the game, it would be good if you can share me a log file.

I fear that there will be none in the game folder, as the game is not even starting. But you can try and check:

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

If nothing is there that you can find and send me, please send me the log from Windows event viewer. You can find how to do that here.

Thanks in advance and let me know about your current situation.

Kind Regards

Hello, Franciscaz,

thank you so much for sharing these with us.

I can see that in the "erreur_1" there is Kernelbase.dll crash.

The kernelbase.dll crash occurs in a wide range of games and apps in general. The crash isn't typically caused by Space Engineers and may be the result of a system issue.

You can still try these steps to overcome this issue:

Update Windows

Update your graphic drivers

Reinstall the Visual Studio redistributable: Download the latest version from the official Microsoft website (x86: vc_redist.x86.exe OR x64: vc_redist.x64.exe)

Run as a different user (a corrupted Windows user profile is a common source of this error)

Some players have fixed this issue using these steps as well:

Add -skipintro into the game launch options

Rename / Delete "\Steam\SteamApps\common\SpaceEngineers\Content\Videos" folder

Delete this directory: \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Promo (You can access your files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.)

Hope some of these will work for you.

Kind Regards

Hello, Engineer!

Because there is no new comment from you, and we are unable to reproduce the issue on our own, I will close this thread now as outdated.

If you or any other player will experience this issue again, please make a new thread and provide all needed info there.

Thank you for understanding.
