Looking for logs or ways to log just before black screen crash

Won't Fix

I can play no issue, a Unreal Engine 4 game with max overclocking CPU and GPU. I cannot SE without a black screen reboot. I do not believe in random occurrences generally, and as a programmer, I suggest this can be fixed with enough data.

The only log I can find for SE indicates a texture unavailable. The black screen crash usually happens with GPU system crash. I really want to drill down into this. I want to play SE without hassle like I do with Ark: Survival Evolved with every visual setting maxed. What do you suggest ? I am willing to enable any debug mode and track data to resolve this.

thanks for letting us know about your issue.

Can you please specify more? When does the crashing happens? Is it really crash to desktop or are you just taken back to game's Main menu?

Does it happen in every game session that you are trying to play? Are you playing a single player game, game in Lobby online mode or on server? Is there any set steps that leads to the crash? Can you reproduce it at will or does it happen random?

You can try the general fixes/workarounds that helps some players to sort their issues:

  • Verify your game files in Steam – right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) – you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder – same access as above
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

If nothing from this list work for you, can you please supply me a log file from the game session where you experienced the issue, as well as the log from Windows Event Viewer, please?

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Let me know about the current status of your game once you try all the advices from the list. Thanks in advance.
