Game Will Not Save

Jordan Bergstrom shared this bug 23 months ago
Solved

I recently transferred my save file from one PC to another, being very careful to place the file in the appropriate location (%APPDATA%\SpaceEngineers\Saves). The game file will load and play, but when I attempt to save my progress, I get the message "World 'Lone Survivor 2022-1-26 1456' failed to save. This can be caused by running out of memory or problems when writing files. Working on this world any longer may result in loss of progress. You can check log file to find out more about what caused this error." I have plenty of RAM and Disk space left, so I don't know what the issue is. Attached is the most recent log file I have.

Hello, Jordan,

thanks for letting us know.

Can you please share me the affected save file as well, so I can take a look myself on my end?

Does this issue happened to you just recently? Was it working correctly on the old PC?

Are you able to start and save/load new game, e.g. Empty World? Can you try?

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards

Hello-

Apologies for the delay. The issue is new. The attached save file saves fine on the old computer, which created it, but not on the new. Also, I just created a new game on the new computer and it saves/loads just fine.

I don't know if it matters that the old computer is Windows 10 and the new computer is Windows 11.

Please let me know if you need anything else! Thank you!

Hello, Jordan!

Thank you for sharing the world save.

For us, renaming and saving the world sorted the issue. So we recommend trying renaming your World Name and then saving it. To do so, open your world in the game > press the Esc button > click on Save As > change the World Name and click OK.

Please let us know if this workaround solves the issue for you.

Hello!

Renaming the World Name/save file now allows the file to save on the new PC. I don't know why, but it does.

Thank you so much for your help!
