Space Engineers only runs in the background steam

Oliver Butow shared this bug 2 years ago
Solved

So I last played SE November 29th 2021 and I thought I would install it again and get back into it about 3 or 4 days ago. However after downloading and installing it, I clicked play and steam proceeded to launch the game like it would any other game, however after the little grey steam box disappeared nothing happened, yet steam said the game was playing. When I checked task manager SE was running as a background process.

I have tried uninstalling reinstalling, updating drivers, restarting PC, verifying game files, removing the roaming file and then verifying the game files, updated windows nothing seems to be working. I have tried everything found in online posts like the steam forum and other sites the only thing which I do not want to do is do a soft reset of my windows

Log shows as follows: https://prnt.sc/j5Dh3azUKgbf

Roaming folder shows as follows: https://prnt.sc/Htn-jtpNGyUi

Space Engineers in steam Folder on C-drive shows as follows: https://prnt.sc/txeSG8gMLg8-

Task Manager Background application when trying to run the game: https://prnt.sc/rwa5l6D65jcO

Pc Specs:

Invidea GTX 1650 4GB

Intel core i3

16 GB DDR4 ram (2 x 8 GB sticks)

PSU - Not known

Never had any problems with playing SE before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If any further information is required I will do my best to provide it as soon as possible.

Hello, Engineer!

Thank you for writing to us.

After investigating the files you have shared, it seems the game couldn't find the config (.cfg) file in the Roaming/SE folder. If possible, could you get the config file from a friend who also plays Space Engineers? Or, you can try SE's new/fresh installation by deleting every leftover in the Roaming/SE and Steam/SE folders.

If the issue persists, could you send us the screen recording/video showing the behavior on your end and also a log from the Windows Event Viewer?

Kind Regards,

Hi, thank you for the assistance, I was able to find a .CFG file that someone sent me which still didn't solve the problem but changed the log. I was then able to get the game working by removing all the mods and DLC's which allowed the game to start. Thank you again for your support.
