Space Engineers - Application Error

Cody Stambaugh shared this bug 17 months ago
Solved

Hello,

I attempted launching Space Engineers multiple times from the desktop shortcut and through Steam, however, it failed to launch. No other significant background applications are running, and windows update and drivers are current. I have attached the log file for your reference. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Respectfully,

Cody Stambaugh

Hello, Cody,

thanks for letting us know. We are sorry that you are experiencing the issues in a first place.

After viewing your log, I found a couple of things that might be the culprit on your end.

You have two graphical cards available on your PC. Please make sure that only one (preferably the nVidia one) is set to run the game.

Next is that you are having the "missing DLL" error there. First of all, I would try to simply verify the game data using Steam.

Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files.

If that would not work for you, some player were able to solve this error by reinstalling VC Redist 2017. That should be enough, but these player installed the full 2015-2019 version, so you might want to try that as well.

And last, but not least, you are running Windows 11. Sadly our game is not supporting Windows 11 at this time.

Anyway... I hope that the VC redist would work for you as well, as it did for other players.

If not, please let me know, share me a new log file and I try to think of some other method how to help you.

Kind Regards

Thank you for the prompt response! I will attempt these suggestions later today. I have tried to verify integrity of games files several times prior to submitting the bug report. Perhaps I'll try a fresh install this time. Is your development team working on compatability for Win 11?

Update: I reinstalled Space Engineers after I downloaded the 2017 Redist and it worked. Thank you for your assistance!
