Won't Fix

Greetings,

Yesterday I bought the game but when I launch it but I noticed that there is no sound. So I try to

move the bar but when I press ok its still at 0. Any fixes?

PS: The sound of the KSH intro does work for some reason.

This has happened to a few people in the past, including myself just recently.

Check logs and go from there. From the KSH Discord:

andersenman — 11/01/2022Anyway. I've been having the weirdest issue in SE for a few days now. There was no sound at all anywhere in the game. All controls in the Audio category of the Options were saving any changes, except for the volume sliders which would always reset to 0. The SE logs kept saying,Exception during loading audio engine. Game continues, but without sound. Details: System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to find XAudio2 dlls for requested versions [Version27], not installed on this machineVarious suggestions on the internet on the issue weren't effective. What did help to fix the issue was to reinstall DirectX Redist (not the web installer!) per this advice: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/directx-9-on-windows-10/7b7cec82-4a6d-4bb8-b7a5-3889aae764c1Leaving this here in case someone has the same problem and -GASP- manages to find, and use, the Search function.

It may or may not be the same for you. For example, I can't say anything about the KSH intro as I always turn nonsense like this off.

How to find your Space Engineers logs:

Open your file explorer and type in %appdata%\spaceengineers in the address bar. Don't search, type the text manually into the address bar. The logs are there, named SpaceEngineers-{numbers here}. Make sure you get the latest one where you had an actual crash.

I indeed got the same error so I will try to reinstall directX and get back to you on that.

Any luck?

No, the problem is that the laptop that I play SE on is a school laptop and because of that I can’t install things that can’t be found in steam because I found a loophole that only works for steam. So I’m currently searching another way to reinstall directX on this laptop.

Hello, Dexultra!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

We recommend trying the following workarounds that might resolve your issue :

Verify your game files on Steam

  • Right-click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files

Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file

  • It means your game configuration will be deleted
  • You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Delete ShaderCache folder

  • Same access as SpaceEngineers.cfg
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic/audio drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

If nothing from above would work for you, can you send us the log files?

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

We are looking forward to assisting you with this issue.

Kind Regards,

Hello, Dexultra,

may I ask if there is any update/progress on your side?

Did the advice from andersenman or from my colleague worked for you? Have you an option to try it yet?

Thanks.

No, I haven’t been able to properly try it out yet due to time and limitations.

I have the same issue as Dexultra. I have tried every solution offered and none of it has worked. If this isn't fixed soon I'll refund the game.

Here's what I've tried:

Reinstalled DirectX Redist

Reinstalled the game

Deleted .cfg file

Deleted shadercache

Hello, Levi,

can you please verify that you did all the proposed advices here?

  • Verify your game files in Steam – right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (it means your game configuration will be deleted) – you can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder – same access as sbove
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Also, there is an advance andersenman:

"...Game continues, but without sound. Details: System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to find XAudio2 dlls for requested versions [Version27], not installed on this machineVarious suggestions on the internet on the issue weren't effective. What did help to fix the issue was to reinstall DirectX Redist (not the web installer!) per this advice: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/directx-9-on-windows-10/7b7cec82-4a6d-4bb8-b7a5-3889aae764c1Leaving this here in case someone has the same problem and -GASP- manages to find, and use, the Search function."

Please try and check all the advices, including the last one from andersenman. And let me know if something helped you.
