Space Engineers crashes because of GPU

Munarmunar shared this bug 2 years ago
Won't Fix

I've recently came into trouble by the game crashing the GPU (XFX AMD Radeon RX 590 FATBOY OC+ 8GB GDDR5) whenever I tried loading a world, opening any menu, changing the textures from medium to high (they were on high before the crashes started happening) etc... I've already verified my drivers are up to date, so as well for Windows. I tried different games and nothing has happened with them; they were functioning as normal. Also verified files, deleted the contents on the ShaderCache folder and the SpaceEngineers.cfg file too.

I've been reading through old reports and some say its because of a memory issue: the game spikes to around 3500-4000mb of memory usage and it crashes (which i dont know if is ok). This happened out of the blue after trying to work on my world the morning after.

Any help would be appreciated, i'll attach the corresponding crash logs.

Hello, Manarmunar,

thanks for letting us know.

Can you please try these fixes/workarounds as well and let me know about the status after you do all that?

You can also provide new log after doing these steps to see whether or not does that move you somewhere.

The steps are:

  • Verify your game files in Steam – right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files. You said that you did it already, but please try it again.
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file as well again.
  • Delete ShaderCache folder – the whole folder, not just its content
  • Back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam
  • Reinstall VC Redist 2017
  • Update graphic drivers - if necessary
  • Reinstall the game
  • Make sure your operating system is fully updated

Please let me know afterwards.

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards
