Game running out of VRAM

Sean shared this bug 2 years ago
Won't Fix

Since yesterday whenever I load a creative world I use for testing/designing, the game will completely fill my VRAM (11gb of it), leading to either my graphics driver crashing (and therefore the game) or the game crashing due to running out of memory.

This also happens on the survival mp server that I play on sometimes. Others can connect to the server and play on it without any issue.

If I try a NEW world with the SAME mods, it will load without this happening, but that doesn't help me being able to connect to the multiplayer server.

I've tried:

- reinstalling the game

- updating graphics drivers

- deleting cfg file in AppData

- deleting shader cache in AppData

- updating windows

- verifying game files

- updating Visual C++ Redistributable

The problem is I have no idea what changed. As far as I know, nothing - I was playing the game without issue, designing a small grid buggy, then the game decided to hang for a few seconds, then boom - white screen and 'gpu driver crashed' error. And it has been like this since.

I have attached the crash logs from the latest crash, but I have plenty of logs if you need them. I also have a file in the same folder, created at the same time, called "Minidump.dmp". I'm not sure if that might be of any use.

The issue is not specific to one world in particular, but it does happen on some while not others. If needed I can send a save file too.

It feels like the issue must be related to texture loading or something, but I'm sure you'll be better able to figure it out.

Hello, Sean,

thanks for reaching our forum with your issue.

From the log, I can see some facts that might be the origin of this issue.

First of all, it seems that you are using two minitors. Can you maybe try to turn off/diable/fully unplug one of them, so you have only one monitor connected when trying to play, please?

It would be also a good thing to try to run the game without any launch option. Can you please delete the "-skipintro" and "-plugin "..\..\..\workshop\content\244850\2407984968\RunPluginLoader" from the launch options in Steam?

Then, as you are writing, you are using mods and scripts. There are multiple errors connected to this. Either not loading properly, or reference issue detected.

Can you please try to load some vanilla (without any mods) game?

In short. Please get rid of everythink that you are using above the regullar vanila game - mods, scripts, launch options etc. Have only one monitor connected when running the game. Try to play the game a bit. Observe if you will have the same issue. If yes, can you please send me the log from that session again? I would be interested in taking a look on the log clean of any mod-related issues etc.

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards
