Space engineers not starting

Kjetil Moes shared this bug 20 months ago
Solved

So I recently installed space engineers, but no window pops up when I press start in steam. I also noticed that I couldn't find a .exe file in the download folder. How can I fix this?

Hello, Kjetil,

thanks for reaching our forum with your issue.

I would need more information on this.

If the game starts at all, you can check in the Roaming SE folder, where e.g. saves, blueprints and logs are stored.

If the game is properly installed, you should see some files there. If present, please can you share me you log file from the game?

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers. The logs are named SpaceEngineers_(some numbers).

Also file "SpaceEngineers.cfg" should be present there.

If none of these files are there, then the game is most likely not properly installed and thus not starting.

All the other files related to the game, you can find in Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/SpaceEngineers. Please try to locate this folder as well and let me know if you can find the game related files there. The .exe application itself is located in Bin64 folder.

If files are there, but you are still not able to start the game, you would need most likely to reinstall the game from scratch – if doing so, please make sure both files mentioned above are completely empty. If some files would stay there after uninstalling the game through Steam, delete those. Restart your PC and try the new installation.

Kind Regards

Ok so for some reason it works now. I opened it via the .exe file and that worked. After that, I tried opening it in steam and that worked too. So I guess I don't need any more help...
