Jump Drive does not remove Beacon from set target in order to Free jump

FrogStrFytr shared this bug 2 years ago
Solved

Hi,

just encountered an issue with the Jump Drive settings.

When I had set a Beacon as target, and removed said target to make a Free jump, the Beacon still was the goal of the jump, although the settings said "Free jump".

I had to manually select a specific GPS target and remove that one again, in order to actually have the Free jump capability.

At the server right now, I was able to reproduce it. But I doubt it's a server issue. I was playing on the EU#1 server. I did not test it yet in single player game or somewhere else. I might test this in other environments, and post again.

Hello, frogstar1fighter,

thanks for letting us know about this issue that you are experiencing.

Can you please try in single player/Lobby multiplayer as well, as you proposed and let me know?

If you can reproduce it there, could you please send me the save file of the game with the affected grid, possibly providing also video of this issue, so I can see exactly what you are doing?

If it would prove not reproducible on the single player game, can you please do the blueprint of the ship that you are using on server and send me this blueprint, along with the video as well?

If you can also write exact steps to reproduce, that would help greatly as well!

You can access your save files and/or blueprints by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\.

In Saves folder, there should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves in it.

Blueprints can be found in Blueprints folder – local.

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards

Hi,

thx for the quick response!

Sorry, the wording: "Free Jump" of cours is "Blind Jump"

I try to clarify:

  1. I selected a Beacon in the menu for the destination,
  2. I jumped there. fine.
  3. I removed the beacon from the menu,
  4. and the menu sais "blind jump"
  5. I try a blind jump.
  6. I receive an error message: "Warning! Obstacle Detected..."
  7. The message reads, the distance (to the beacon) being of cours to close
  8. but i was aiming into open space for a 5km jump.
  9. I needed to return to the jump drive setting, and switch manually to a GPS destination
  10. and than removed that one again to get "blind jump"
  11. in order to actually successfully make a blind jump

I've just tested this on two creative local single player worlds: exactly the same issue! With three different Grid designs. (so there should be no point in exporting a problematic design)

I've saved the game at point 7 (above), and reloaded. After reload, jump drive behaved as expected.

It's no drama, but it's a bug. And could be annoying in certain situations.

I've used my OBS skills to provide you with a demonstration ;)

And just to add, because this is what actually happened when I played on the server:

Those points:

  • I try a blind jump.
  • I receive an error message: "Warning! Obstacle Detected..."
  • The message reads, the distance (to the beacon) being of cours to close
  • but i was aiming into open space for a 5km jump.

are only relevant, when you are next to the old location.

When you have moved (somewhat far away) and you jump, under these conditions... you will not blind jump, but return to the beacon! Although the menu still is set to "blind jump".

At least this might become an annoying game play issue.

Chears again. f1f
