I have the same bug
The game saves in both a text (XML) form and an optimized binary form. The binary file (SANDBOX_0_0_0_.sbsB5) is empty. Try deleting that and hopefully, if the XML file is good, you can load it and recover your ship.

Ah, there was a problem with the player inventory. A lot has changed since 2013! I cleared the inventory and attached the save file in 2022 format. Have fun reviving that ship!
