Merge block detach malfunction

Merge block issue that started randomly but now persists(happes 100% of the time)
I have a perpetual mining platform and a subgrid(pipe attached to a piston) breaks off entierly when a merge block turns off and this should not happen.
Problem occured, then disappeared but now it happens every single time and has been like that for over a year.
I have not tried rebuilding but I have copied it to a fresh world and no change.
