Small Grid Control Seat does not have the ability to place blocks with Ctrl + G

As it says in the title, unlike the other cockpits / control seats in SE, the small grid control seat does not have the ability to place blocks with Ctrl + G. I found this out while playing on a server that has jetpacks disabled and no third person camera. I would like this to be fixed because the small grid control seat has the best field of view and would help me build.
