[1.192.103] [DS] Taking suffocation damage on earth when going close to ship without helment

LordTylus shared this bug 4 years ago
Won't Fix

Hello there,

today I found an annoying bug which I believe is quite old but I couldnt find the previous reports about it anymore.

When you playing on DS (and DS only) and going with a Space Ship down to earth you should be able to breathe without a helmet on because of all the Oxygen in the Air.

however when you go inside the ships bounding box without helmet you get suffocation damage.

The same things works the other way around. When you go from Earth to space you can keep breathing air without helmet in space while in the ships bounding box.

Also you can notice that stuff like Air Vents show the incorrect atmospheric pressure indicators.

Only thing to fix that is to either cut and paste the ship or wait for the server restart.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Join a DS

2. Spawn in a Ship with a big Bounding box in Space

3. Go into cockpit and land the ship on Earth

4. Take off your Helmet

5. Enter ships bounding box (if ships not airtight you will notice you take damage immediately)

See Attached ships screenshot (ships not airtight) as soon as I take my helmet off while in the ship or close to it I start loosing health.

I added the Blueprint for testing.

Hopefully you can verify and fix this issue soon.

Thank you

sorry to repost on an old bug, but this needs to be more than "considered" as I can confirm it too. Here's a screenshot verifying it. As you can see by the screenshot, I am on Earth, however I am near a ship that has been in space recently (since server restarted). This has nothing to do with the ship design or anything like that, because it has happened to me on multiple ships, all the same thing. If they've been to space since the server restart, getting near them (within 1 large block) creates this issue.

I've seen the opposite, whereas my ship has a bubble of oxygen around it in space. I wonder if it is related.

From what I can work out, this 'bubble' is the space inside the grid's bounding box.

Still a Problem in 197

STR:

Problem 1: No O2 on earth

- Open DS

- Paste Ship in SPACE it should have a big bounding box (see screenshots above)

- ship must not be airtight (just leave the door open or something)

- decend to earth without crashing your ship

- Notice: O2 indicator on UI says "none" and you take damage upon opening your helmet. as soon as you leave the bounding box of the ship the o2 indicator gets fixed and no further damage is applied, however it returns as soon as you enter the box again.

Problem 2: O2 in empty space (same bug but different observation of it)

- Open DS

- Paste Ship on EARTH it should have a big bounding box (see screenshots above)

- ship must not be airtight (just leave the door open or something)

- ascent to space

- Notice: O2 indicator on UI says "high" and you take no damage even with being exposed to space. with open helmet. As soon as you leave the bounding box o2 indicator goes to "none" and you start taking damage.

This looks to be (probably due to some performance optimizing that atmospheric O2 is not updated withing a ships bounding box correctly.

However external Airvents notice right away that there is no o2 anymore. So it only seems to apply to UI and characters.
