[1.192.102] [DS] Character gets rotated when flying over rotor

LordTylus shared this bug 4 years ago
Solved

Hello there,

This may already be a known issue. But when flying over rotating ships or rotors your character may be rotated alongside it even though it should not.

See the attached video + world file for reproduction.

If possible a fix would be appriciated.

I assume it has something to do with client prediction to be able to walk on moving ships. so even if it cannot be entirely due to that, maybe the effects could be optimized so that it only moves the client at a certain range.

Hello, LordTylus!

Thank you for updating us that this is still an issue. I see that this was posted some time ago and sadly both links are now not available. Are you able to provide newer ones at all?

Kind Regards

Hello Laura,

I am sorry for the inconvenience. I have uploaded the Video once again to youtube. Its the same one recorded with 192.

The Link to the Race-Track still works for me which is pretty much the world download.

The rotations shown in the video are not on purpose the game executes them on its own.

Just follow the racetrack till you get into the cave. However upon retesting it I had problems to reproduce it reliably when hosting it on a local Vanilla DS. However I was able to reproduce it on other external DS. However I am unsure if there are different settings or software used.

For that I just put a spinning rotor with a bunch of armor blocks on top somewhere in the world and flew over it. It certainly got a bit more tricky to reproduce than before. but it still seems to happen to me. It maybe its related to network traffic or simulation speed I cannot verify on my local PC due to the absence of such.

Sadly thats all I can provide you with. Maybe with the world and video you can make sense of it.

Hello, LordTylus!

Thank you so much for providing that again. I actually started looking at this prior to our new update (198.024) and managed to reproduce it a couple of times. I have since come back to looking at it again and can't seem to be able to reproduce it now. Would you be able to have a look from your side too? It may be that the recent update played a part in fixing this issue which would be great news! If it is still an issue for you, I will again look into it :)

Kind Regards

Hi Laura,

thank you for the feedback. I tried a good 10 minutes on my development server now where I recently was able to reproduce it in 197.

However in 198 I have been unable to reproduce it with the same means so it may actually be fixed. I would be okay with closing this ticket for now and I may create a new one, or otherwise let you know if I come across this issue again in the future.
