1.191.020 Text Padding Reverts to 2%

Reproduction Rate: 10 out of 10

Affected Version: 1.191.020


Reproduction steps:

#1 Place an LCD on a grid.

#2 Change the LCD to Content Type to "Text and Images"

#3 Write text to the LCD screen.

#4 Set Text Padding to 0.

#5 Save the game, and reload.


Observed behavior:

The text padding will be pushed back to 2 instead of 0. Values higher than 0.0010 appear to be retained.


Expected behavior:

The text padding should stay at the value the player set it to.

Still a bug that's lingering in 1.192.022 so irritating having to go through all the LCDs and reset them every time you load in.

To note, this only affects TextPanel type blocks. Other blocks which use the new screen area system are not affected by this reversion on load.

I can confirm this behavior. It affects all dedicated text panels: LCD Screen, Corner LCD Screens, Transparent LCD's etc. After reloading their slider will revert to 2% if it's been set to 0.


Other multi functional blocks, like the Programmable Block and Control Seat still retain their Text Padding value after reload even if it's set to 0.

It seems that Keen have a very big problem with 0 values. In the server configuration panel, when you set for example that you allow 0 computer block for a player/faction/whatever it doesn't save it in the configuration file but any other values are fine.

Keen !!!! 0 is not a value to say 'undefined' and should not be saved. It mean 0 !!!!

Is that what's going on? They've set the value to nil, and so thus it defaults?

This is most noticeable when trying to place images on LCD screens, and especially images that were designed for the exact screen resolution and ratio of said LCD screen.

While this bug persists, a temporary workaround is to set the text padding value to 0.01.

just discovered this is still happening as I repeatedly edited a very large ship blueprint with 3-4 dozen LCDs -_-

Actually, it was June 2019. Hahah. Honestly not sure if it was changed in any updates, I don't think so though.
