New encounter drones do not broadcast any messages if the game language is not Eng.

Reported

New encounter drones do not broadcast any messages if the game language is set to anything other than English.

Exemple videos :

- Test 1 : game language set to English, broadcast message work

- Test 2 : game language set to French, broadcast message don't work

I think the problem comes from the automatic renaming of unmodified blocks when the game language changes.

The Event Controller doesn't recognize the renamed blocks (in this case, the Broadcast Controller).

See 'Image 1' for the Event Controller menu in English, and 'Image 2' for the same menu in French.

You can see that the actions are correctly configured in Image 1, and grayed out in Image 2.

Hello engineer,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum.

We have attempted to replicate the issue on our end, and the Broadcast Controller successfully sends messages when used with the Button Panel and Timer Block. However, we observed that in the provided blueprint, the Broadcast Controller actions in the Button Panel and Timer Block’s action toolbar configuration were initially greyed out. Reassigning these actions resolved the issue, and they functioned as expected.

Could you please try reassigning the actions for the Broadcast Controller in the Button Panel and Timer Block to see if this resolves the issue? If the issue persists, please send us a screen recording/video showing the issue, along with the dedicated server (DS) save file where you have reproduced this issue.

  • You can access your DS save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \SpaceEngineersDedicated\Saves. There you will find your server save files.
  • Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Kind Regards,

Hello, I tried reproducing the problem again, by pasting the blueprint from the workshop again on my server, the issue was immediately observed as persisting whether the blueprint is owned my mine or not,

and no greyed out toolbar actions assigned were observed. random messages can still be triggered, but specific messages cannot.

I also looked if a server setting was producing the issue but with no success.

I'm providing the server actual save in the attached files.

(PS: in the server I disconnected with the suit antenna off by reflexe before exporting the save, but all the tests were done with character suit antenna on*)

Hello engineer,

Thank you for providing the screen recording and server save.

In the provided save, we’re receiving Broadcast Controller messages from both new grids and those already placed near the 'Aura'. However, based on the screen recording, it seems the Broadcast Controller may be muted in your game settings.

To verify this, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Options > Game.
  2. Find the Mute Broadcast Controllers option.
  3. Ensure this option is unchecked/disabled.
  4. Click OK to save the changes.

After updating, please check if the issue persists. If it does, kindly share the log file from the session when the issue occurred on your Dedicated Server (DS).

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Kind Regards,

Hello I have verified the option and that setting was already unchecked/disabled correctly,

I have also tried the option in both checked and unchecked position and the result was the same on server only.

I'm providing the server logs for the past two and three days.

and the todays log, starting server, me connecting, pushing button panel toolbar for specific messages,, pasting the grid from the workshop, coping it next to it, using button panel to send 2 or 3 random messages with success, trying specific messages on button panel again, during that time the timers are cycling to send messages. then i remove the two extra grids and disconnect

Hello, little update here, I think I found the cause of the problem, when I changed my game langage to English the broadcast controller is sending specific messages as it should on server.

Having different game langage (french in my occurrence) is what cause some blocks to not function properly on server.

I think the same problem exists in the case of Factorum's encounter with disarming warheads. Messages do not appear when the language is other than eng.

After some testing, I found that changing the block name is not the cause of the bug.

It seems that the problem comes from the "transmit message X" (1 to 8) actions.

The bug also affects other blocks where you can set actions in, not only Event Controller.

I only tested with the Event Controller, Timer Block, Button Panel, and a Cockpit, but I was able to reproduce the bug each time.

I've attached some images of the tests:

In these images, the "transmit message" action from both a Broadcast Controller and a renamed Broadcast Controller were set in the action bar with the game in English (actions 1 and 2), French (actions 4 and 5), and German (actions 7 and 8).

I changed the game language in the menu before each test.

  • Image 1 shows the game in English: the actions set in English work, but the others do not.
  • Image 2 shows the game in French: the actions set in French work, but the others do not.
  • Image 3 shows the game in German: the actions set in German work, but the others do not.

I also tested what happens if you change the game language directly during gameplay, without returning to the main menu.

You can see the result in image 4, where the game was launched in English and then changed to French. Actions 1 and 2 (set in English) still work, but the others do not.

You can find a build to test the bug at this link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3477187094

The other Broadcast Controller actions like "Send random message" and "Send GPS" seem to work correctly.

This bug seems to affect the Broadcast Controller on all builds, not just in Encounters.

Hello Misha,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forum.

Could you please check in the game’s main menu under Options > Game if the Mute Broadcasts option is enabled? If it is, please disable it, click OK to save the changes, and then check if the issue is resolved. If the option is already disabled, please create a blueprint of your grid, paste it into a new world, and see if the issue still occurs there. If it does, kindly send us the blueprint of your grid along with any steps to reproduce the broadcast message issue, and a screen recording/video showing the issue.

  • You can access your blueprints files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Blueprints. Select the correct folder where your blueprint is saved (local or cloud), zip the file and attach it here.

If you are having difficulty attaching video/screen recording files here, you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Kind Regards,

English:

Hello,

I tested the issue for quite some time — tried different blocks and buttons, but the only thing that helped was switching the game's interface language to English. I haven’t tested other languages, but I suspect the problem only occurs with non-English languages. I personally play with the Russian language setting, and that’s when I encounter this broadcast message issue.

Below I’m sharing the blueprint link via OneDrive:

I’d appreciate your further investigation into this matter.

Kind regards,

Misha

Problem: Broadcast controller does not send specific message (1-9).

Server: KEEN official EU 2

Game UI language: Russian - i think it is the problem, because when select game language English - bug doesnt reproduced

Blocks and action names: English

Step to reproduce:

  1. Set game language NOT English
  2. Setup grid with timer, antenna, broadcast controller, battery.
  3. Set message 1 some text in broadcast controller.
  4. In timer settings select trigger action Broadcast controller - send message 1.
  5. Start timer or activate (does not matter)
  6. Result - no message in chat
  7. But if i in timer settings select trigger action Broadcast controller - send random message -random message is sended to chat, i see it.
