Hello Engineer,
thank you for reaching our forum with this problem.
Please note that the only officially supported controllers for the game on PC are those for Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
Even for those, it is good practice to connect them before launching the game. Then, after game fully started, change the settings immediately in the Options from the Main menu.
What controller, any what type of it, are you using, to play the game?
You can also try the workaround, that helped some players to get the game working with unsupported controllers (like the old X360 one):
1) On your PC, open Control panel, switch to Large Icons
2) Go to Devices and Printers
3) Right click on the gamepad and open 'Game Controller settings'
4) Select the controller and press 'Advanced' button
5) Select 'Controller (Xbox One For Windows)' as preferred device
6) Press 'Ok' button
Please let me know, if the workaround worked for you, or what type of the controller are you using exactly.
Thank you in advance.
Kind Regards
