"The First Jump" Story Scenario not Available in New Game Menu

WesternGamer shared this bug 22 days ago
Solved

There is a bug where the "The First Jump" Story Scenario is completely inaccessible from the New Game Menu, as it does not show up under the "Story Scenarios" category. The only way to access this Scenario is through the Quick Start button on the Main Menu. Additionally, if you have used the quick start button already, the "The First Jump" Story Scenario is fully inaccessible without deleting your config file or editing it.

This bug occurs as the world file for "The First Jump" Story Scenario does not have a GUI Category Id, which just results in the world not showing up in the menu. Adding a GUI Category Id to the world file should fix this issue.

Instead of "Story Scenarios" try looking under "Original Content". For me it is one to the left of "Earth Planet"

I have looked everywhere already and can confirm it is not there. Additionally, I had debugged the code responsible for displaying the worlds and already found the source of the issue. I made this bug report so they are aware and can fix it in the next update. Thanks for trying to help though.

Then I suggest verifying game files, since I don't think its a bug. I have 1.206.032.b1 and its in the menu for me. Easy to try and wouldn't hurt.

I verified 2 times, and the bug is still there. If Keen is not able to replicate it, it may be steam not updating some files correctly.

Just because I could, I verified my own game files. I still see "The First Jump" under "Original Content". Sorry I could not help with a solution.

Hello WesternGamer,

thank you for reaching our forum with this problem.

Sadly, on our side is everything working correctly and properly, same as for ShadedMJ.

Please see the image where the world in question is placed after the New game screen update.

If you are really not able to find the world there (and thus play/start it), can you please provide more information?

It would be best, if you can share some screen/video, showing, that the world is not present there/anywhere.

Also please share us a log file from the game.

Since you are writing that "...is fully inaccessible...", can you please elaborate? What does the game do, when you try to load any of the previously created saves/backups from this world (if you have any to try)?

Any additional information, like first occurrence etc. might help as well.

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards

The reply above was supposed to have text, but it seems there is also a bug with the UseResponse software where you can't make a comment with a embedded image.

Anyways, the image is attached instead of being embedded.

For the "...is fully inaccessible..." part, I mean when you don't have any saves of the world in your load game menu. If you have a save file, it loads fine.

Additionally, I believe this bug was introduced when the New Game screen was updated, but I think it may be a bug with Steam not updating some files and not with the game now.

UPDATE: After deleting the SpaceEngineers\Content\Scenarios\The First Jump folder and re-verifying files, the issue has been fixed. It does appear it may be a Steam issue, as before deleting the folder, Steam said all files validated fine.

This issue would likely not occur on a new installation. It seems that this issue occurs only when you update the game from an older version before the new game screen was updated.

Additionally I believe you may have a similar issue, but with the Rival Platforms world, as I don't see it in your own screenshot (it is supposed to be left of "The First Jump").

While this particular case can be considered resolved on my end, it is possible that others may be experiencing the same issue, with the same world or different worlds. Most experienced players would likely not notice similar issues, as most play on custom worlds or use the Star System world.
