Merge Blocks disable thrusters

Dennis Lindemann shared this bug 5 years ago
Outdated

Today (03 Feb 2019) On the Moon: I built a rover. I placed merge blocks facing upwards. I built a ship. I placed merge blocks facing downwards. The ship has ion thrusters. I merged the two by flying the ship into position. The only point of contact is the merge blocks. After the merge the ion thrusters failed to work. Control screen says they are on. Power is on. Thrust is not present in any direction. Thrust graphical effect is not present. Turning off merge blocks unmerges but has no effect on thrust. Turning merge blocks on again sometimes makes thrusters work, but mostly not. Thrust returns if game is reloaded. This has been a bug for many years. I had hoped to see it fixed by now.

The issue has been marked 'outdated', but still occurs.

I have a ship that uses merge blocks and rotors to point it's largest thrusters down so that it can use them to lift inside gravity or thrust forward where that's not a concern. When they switch, i have to jump out of the control seat and back in to have the rotated thrusters actually turn on and start thrusting.
