Cannot join the Steam multiplayer servers

Oddly I was having the exact same issues when running the game under Linux. Windows is actually performing worse, because there was a short period where Linux could connect with almost any server of my choice.
The Steam server list populates very slowly, sometime incomplete, but also inconsistent. Rarely are the Steam servers fully listed.
Its also no longer connecting to Steam servers under Windows, where I was joining a few of them with great difficulty under Linux.

Meanwhile EOS servers can connect with a single click. Same for Linux and Windows.

Just to clarify, the visibility of servers in the Steam list can often depend on your current ping to those servers. If the ping is too high, some servers might not show up at all or appear inconsistently.
