Peer2Peer_ConnectionFailed, Timeout

Won't Fix

Hello,

I've been trying to create a SE dedicated server to play with friends. From the LAN, everything seems to work fine. However, whenever someone tries to connect from outside, they have a timeout error :

2025-01-28 18:13:19.389: Peer2Peer_SessionRequest [007...688]

2025-01-28 18:13:34.400: Peer2Peer_ConnectionFailed [007...688], Timeout

2025-01-28 18:13:34.405: User left [007...688]

I tried to do my own investigations, but I can't seem to find the cause of this.

I do have the connection logs on my server, so I don't think it's a port issue.

The server Version is the latest and latest client was testing as of January 28, 2025.

Could I have some help on what could the possible causes be ? Thank you in advance.

EDIT : The server is a fresh install without any MODs

Thank you for reaching out.

The timeout error is typically related to network connectivity issues. You may try the following steps to resolve it:

If you have a VPN enabled, please disable it temporarily.
Additionally, you can configure Steam Networking (P2P) by adding -steam to your server startup parameters. To do this, Right-click on Space Engineers Dedicated Server in Steam Library → Properties → General. Paste
-steam in your Launch Options.

Dedicated Server Configuration:

Check the SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg for the <IP> and <ServerPort> values in the AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated folder. If the <IP> is set to 0.0.0.0, the server binds to all interfaces, which is fine for most setups.
If running on a local network, you may need to explicitly set your public IP in the config file. Replace <IP>0.0.0.0</IP> with your public IP address

If the issue persists, please provide the server log and the player's log when they attempt to connect to your Dedicated Server (DS).

You can access your DS log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated folder for the log files.
Players can find their logs files in their \AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers folder.
