Oxygen Farms Still Don't Work On Rotors

Kieran Martin shared this bug 12 months ago
Solved

Using advanced rotors with full permission for the entire grid, last two updates Oxygen farms to pass gas from rotor junctions to station junctions. This really needs to be fixed as O2 Farms are basically junk.

Scrap them block from the game or fix the bug but please do something and not just let it pile up for another 1000s of an issue for the game. You guys really need to start focusing on bug fixing more and not adding more features, a game is only good if the game actually works and the state it's in it's a bloody reck.

Works for me.

Oxygen farm, Solar panel -> Junction -> Advanced Rotor Head -> Advanced Rotor Base -> Junction -> Oxygen Tank

Farms produce output, tank fills.

New, clean vanilla world.

Hello, Kieran Martin,

thank you for letting us know.

However, when I did try it on my end, everything was working properly and without any issues.

Oxygen was produces in the oxygen farm and moved through conveyors and advanced rotor to the tank, where it was properly stored.

Can you please provide me save file where this issue can be observed?

You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards

It's currently happening on my dedicated GTX server. It's not the first time I have had this issue either but it was with the same host that I have had the issue so I am not sure if that is the problem but I am pretty sure it's the same service provider you guys use so I am not sure if it's just bad luck or something.

The world was made recently on the latest update so the world is fresh pretty much minus a few hours of me and my friend building on it but other than that it just seems a bit odd that it would not work I had an o2 far hooked up to the junction blocks exactly the same way as andersenman said I even tested if it was just problems sending it between the rotor so I added a 02 tank directly to the grid on the rotor and it was not generating any O2. I let it run for a couple of minutes and there was no increase in the values for O2 they just stayed the same in all the tanks.

Couldn't find a single grid in this world with an oxygen farm, so, I build one on that rotating paddle that I could find and it's clearly producing up to its maximum of 1.8 L/min indicated of oxygen. (Still, would have been nice not having needed to go on a bloody scavenger hunt.)

And if I put a tank below the rotor, bypass the lower column of conveyors with a purely mechanical connection, and sever the conveyor line so that the oxygen produced isn't going elsewhere in this rat's nest of a station, then it's filling.

At 1.8 L/min or so. Which is slow, but not nothing. (As opposed to what linking my name here does.)

No repro.

Here's your world back, perhaps it works now.

I will give it another try ingame it might be just that I had two tanks and it was deciding them by two possibly so the value was hard to notice. I thank you for your help and testing and yes I should have been more clear about what base deepest apologies about that you did get to the right base in the end though :) though rat's nest might be a bit extreme XD I am currently working on a better base either way that was the building off the side of the base.

I just checked and yea it does produce some but but it seems not not update the O2 tank value in real time or at least on dedicated, it jumped from 0L to 5L so it took a few minutes to see any results I suspect with more farms it would generate faster and be more noticeable thanks for your guys support.

Hello, Kieran,

happy to hear that after all there is no issue neither on your side.

Yes, you are right – some values are not updating in real time (especially on DS) but the UI for the tanks are % based. This is for performance reasons.

Anyway, since there is no issue anymore, I will close this thread now.

Kind Regards

Also I should note there is no mods either, it's vanilla, my friend has some kind of hate for mods so we generally don't play games with mods.

I once was as wrong about mods as your friend, then I took a Build Vision to the save file.

Seriously. In a world where Build Vision was the full product and Space Engineer was a mod for BV, I would buy it. Not least for the fact that I could be sure the money went to someone who actually cared about usability and knows that a game's challenge does not come from making the GUI a pain in the ass to use instead of just trying to put lipstick on a pig with trashy bathroom textures DLC and crowbarred console ports.
