space engineers dedicated server unable to run new or saved game, persists after reinstall

Wyatt Murray shared this bug 18 months ago
Won't Fix

I have reinstalled the dedicated server client, installed and repaired my .net framework installation, and yet this occurs. i have remove the temp files, uninstalled the data, appdata, and steam files, and still no fix.

once I was able to get past this, and it threw up an error asking to continue or quit. i havent been able to retrieve any log files because there is no way to successfully launch a game to pull a log from. any help would be appreciated, and id love to answer any questions regarding my troubleshooting timeline.

One more thing to note, is that my list of instances and their configs remains through reinstalls. this is problematic, as i am unable to edit them in any fashion.cfdd0d1326a8b907bfd42f68207d9076

Hi, Engineer!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

As you have mentioned, you reinstalled the Dedicated Server Client. We recommend trying the following workarounds that might resolve your issue.

Verify files on Steam

  • Right click on Space Engineers Dedicated Server in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Tool Files

Delete SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg file

  • You can access your SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar, and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated.

Kindly let us know if any of these work for you.

I have verified the files on steam multiple times on every reinstall i tried, and multiple times I have removed the SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg from %appdata%.

I have tried to search down any and all space engineers files in the temp files, in appdata, in programData, and in the steam game folder it is located in. Is there another location i could be missing?

i have tried to put a saved world into the save folder, and launch that world to get SOME error, but no saves show up in the saved world list.

one thing to note is that the instance list persists through deletion. could the file that contains that list be linked to what might be going on?

id love to get an error log for you guys as soon as possible so we can figure out what went wrong and fix it.

Hello, Wyatt!

Since we haven't received logs, we wonder if you're still experiencing this issue?

If you are still having this issue, we recommend you try a clean installation of the SE Dedicated server, which means deleting every file in Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated and Steam\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineersDedicatedServer folders and reinstalling the SE Dedicated server.

Launch SE Dedicated server and log in to Steam on SE Dedicated Server UI (please see the attached image).

If the issue persists, kindly send us the log file,

  • You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\\SpaceEngineersDedicated.

Also, try to move or copy/paste some world saves from Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves (that's working fine in Single Player) to Roaming\SpaceEngineersDedicated\Saves and see if the SP saves can be played on SE Dedicated Server.

Hello, Wyatt,

can you please check the content of your SEDedicated folder?

Make sure that there are correct files in the Steam/steamapps/common/SpaceEngineersDedicatedServer/Content/CustomWorlds.

This folder should have all (17) custom worlds from the game in it. If the folder is not there at all, or if it is empty, you can just copy-paste (not cut) the whole folder from Steam/steamapps/common/SpaceEngineers/Content/CustomWorlds.

If you do this and restart the DSGUI, it should start properly and show the scenarios.

Let us know if this is working for you, please.

Kind Regards
