Support Needed, Unsubscribed Mods Installing Despite Being Removed?

Greg Parelli shared this bug 18 months ago
Solved

Dear Keen Support Team,

I have been having trouble regarding Workshop mods that have been installing into brand new games of Space Engineers, despite the mods having been unsubscribed from and removed from the game files themselves. No matter what I do, certain mods just will not go away. I'm at a loss, because I've never seen this happen before.

I have attached a list of screenshots of the mods I am currently looking to use, as well as what's subscribed. I have also attached the most recent game log file itself, as attempting to send it to a developer over the Steam Discussions Page via Pastebin was unsuccessful.

Thanks for your time!

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Keen Software House.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues.

What exactly is the problem? From the screenshots, I still can see that you are actually still using the mods as such.

It does not matter if you unsubscribe from them or not, have them installed or not. If you want to get rid of all the mods in the save file, you still need to manage these on the menu you provided the screens from.

Please use the bottom two arrows (options) tp move the mods from the "Active mods" part of the menu back to "Available mods". If you want to load the game without any mods, you need to have the "Active mods" part of the menu empty.

Hope this help you. If not, can you please describe the issue more?

Thanks.

Kind regards,

Keen Software House

The issue is that mods that aren't on that list, active or not, unsubscribed or not, are installing. To name some of the biggest ones, an HSR Weapons Pack, an Inspired Weaponry Weapons Pack, and a MexPex Warfare pack, and there's a few others that are installing that I used to be subscribed to, but have unsubscribed from them on the Steam Workshop a while ago. These mods are for some reason installing now. But the only mods I have installed from the workshop are the ones in the screenshot. Every world I now load has around 4.1GB worth of mods installing, despite the fact that it should be half that at maximum.

These mods have never been installed manually, as I've never manually installed a mod ever since the workshop support was released, and the last time I did was on a completely different PC. I've reinstalled the game at LEAST twice, and even went through the game's files to manually remove all workshop files from the game and hopefully reset it, to no avail. The only mods I have subscribed to are the ones in those screenshots, but the issue is a ton of OLDER mods that I'm no longer subscribed to or using are installing into new worlds automatically and I have no idea why. What confuses me more now is that according to your response, this isn't showing up in the game logs either?

Hello, Greg,

while it seems, that this might be an in-game issue, I think that we are not able to do anything with this, as it's literally connected to mods; which we do not support as such.

However, to try it on my side as well, can I ask you to send me the affected (or at least one of the affected) save files, please?

I would like to look into it more closely. It seems rather strange that you are not able to get rid of the mods from the game and that they are active even in new games, as you are writting.

You can access your save files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers\Saves. There should be a folder with your SteamID and your saves.

Please zip the file and attach it here. If you are having difficulty attaching files you can optionally use Google Drive. When sharing a google drive link please make sure it is set to be downloadable by anyone with the link.

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards

Dear Keen Support,

Here is the most recent file I have with this issue to memory. It is a save I made specifically to test the issue further, so it has little progress on it. I have another world, a creative world, that I use for testing, if you'd like that as well.

The issue of not being able to access the support page due to an ERR_SSL_CONNECTION_ERROR persists, as a secondary note, and I've no idea why.

Dear Keen Support,

It's been about a week, I just wanted to check in over this issue, and if anything had been discovered in your investigation of the save file I sent over.

If progress is being displayed on the website, please be advised that I still cannot access the support portal due to an  ERR_SSL_CONNECTION_ERROR message. I only have Windows Defender as my antivirus, and all other methods I've found online don't seem to allow me to connect. My only method of responding is through Email alone.
