Unknown Signals (Green) under player command (redirect)

Stefen Ray Swanner shared this bug 22 months ago
Won't Fix

Hello, my name is Swanner, Stefen R (Nyxborne on discord and in game). I am an admin on the AWL community server. Yesterday our Unknown Signals (green) have been spawning under my command without me spawning them manually. They are spawning normally as intended per each player, but are under my control.

We also have a mod that limits the player's grid limits. For example we are allowed 7 small grids smaller than 1,500 blocks each, and 10 large grids with unlimited amount of blocks.

The attached photo is 2 screenshots combined. My personal grid list is on the left side showing a single Large Grid ship, my Main base, and my Small Grid miner. Also attached is a screenshot showing that I am not in an NPC faction and play alone in my faction.

The right hand side is the GUI that pops up after using the command "!gridlimit mylimit' and shows and additional small grid that had just spawned on a player under my control. The problem is that, as stated, the pods are under my command for grid purposes and once my small grid limit fills, they do not spawn anymore.

I asked for assistance on the discord and was directed here because it would involve save file editing.

Edit - I am thinking that this is because I generated the world and then transferred it to the server.

Edit - The attached file is a screenshot from another admin showing that I control the unknown signal pod.

Here are all of my logs from the 6th of May to the 9th of May. I stopped playing altogether after noticing this behavior so to keep my logs for this occasion.

Hello, Stefen Ray Swanner!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

We do not provide support for mods and as you have mentioned and I can see in your log, you are using them. We would ask that you remove all mods and re-test this as mods can cause a wide array of issues. It is quite probable that a mod is causing an interaction in this instance. If you can provide a fresh mod-free world with this issue, please do supply it. Please also then supply reliable steps for reproducing the issue.

Also, I note you are using Windows 11 and we support Windows 10. We are still in an evaluation period for Windows 11 support.

Kind Regards

Well the problem with your request is that this is on a server that I admin for, I do not own it or have the rights to add/remove mods from it. All I know is that I generated the world and then transferred the file to the owner to use for the server. And about the windows 11 thing, My compute had been asking me for weeks if I wanted to update and I kept pushing it off for later, and then my power went out and it updated when I started it up afterwards.

The only reason I brought this up here is because we have no mods that edit or mess with the unknown signal pods at all, So i was kinda hoping there would be something I could do, Even if it involved messing with the save file directly.

Hello, Stefen Ray Swanner!

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, as this is a modded world we cannot provide support for you in this instance. As you are an admin, I would suggest letting the owner know the issue and asking if they can disable mods or, have noticed the same issue.

If you are able to provide a complete, Mod Free, save file, we would be happy to begin reviewing this issue immediately.

Kind Regards

The server owner gave me the save file (he had a copy of it before mods were added to it) and I played it long enough to confirm that the issue persisted. Sadly it does, so attached is a zip file that has the safe file and log file in it. Hopefully that gives more assistance than I had been previously providing.

Hello, Stefen Ray Swanner!

Thank you so much for the clarification. Thank you also for the save file. Could you please provide reliable steps for me to reproduce the issue?

I was able to replicate this via singleplayer by just waiting for an unknown signal to spawn, then checking my grid list on the info tab as well as physically traveling and checking that grid's info tab as well.

Hello, Stefen Ray Swanner!

Thank you. I have just pressed K on an Unknown signal item. I can see that owner is set to 'Nobody' could you please confirm what you see on one?

Sorry about the delay. The keen support site is sending invalid response tickets through my home internet. Here is confirmation that it is still happening for me

Hello, Stefen Ray Swanner!

Thank you for this. It is interesting that I am not having the same issue as you here. Could they try to disable drop containers, save the file and then re-enable them?

Kind Regards,

If I may ask, how do you disable the drop containers? Is it in the advanced options?

Hello, Stefen Ray Swanner!

Under the Dedicated server you'll see Others > Enable Drop Containers

There is also Enable unknown signals in single player

Hello, Engineer!

Because there is no new comment from you, and we are unable to reproduce the issue on our own, I will close this thread now as outdated.

If you or any other player will experience this issue again, please make a new thread and provide all needed info there.

Thank you for understanding.

Kind Regards
