Spotlights Range value not syncing / saving if Client changes it on Server

DarkWolfKate shared this bug 19 months ago
Solved

when ever a Client Adjusts the Spotlight range the server will throw this error:

Warning: Validation of sync value ID 9 failed.

the result is that the spotlight range only changes locally for the person that adjusted it and the server wont save the change / wont sync it to other players.

i tested it on 3 platforms, Torch Dedicated, Space Engineers Dedicated and Singleplayer hosted with a friend.

How to Recreate:

set up a dedicated server with the star system world, no mods.

join server and spawn with the moon rover.

once spawned in the rover, try to adjust the spotlight range. server should throw the error.

it doesnt matter what spotlight you adjust the range with the error happens no matter what.

once you adjusted the range, save the world and restart the server.

the result will be that the spotlight range will be reset to its previous state / default state and therefore it did not save.

same thing for other players, if a client adjusts a spotlight range it wont change for other Clients on the server.

one important note for a singleplayer hosted world, if the host adjusts the range it will get saved and connected clients will see the change but if a client adjusts the range it wont sync / save.

i of course verified my game files, deleted the roaming folder and restarted steam after deleting the roaming folder, nothing helped...

Hello, Engineer!

Thank you for contacting us. Can you please attach here your log? Try also following steps:

  • Verify your game files in Steam (Right click on Space Engineers in Steam Library → Properties → Local Files → Verify Integrity of Game Files)
  • Delete SpaceEngineers.cfg file (It means your game configuration will be deleted. You can access your SpaceEngineers.cfg by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.)
  • Delete ShaderCache folder (same access as SpaceEngineers.cfg)
  • If this won't help, back up your whole Space Engineers Roaming folder and delete it
  • Restart Steam

Let me know if it helped you.

Kind regards

i'm having the same issue and i was able to somewhat trace it down.

first things first, i tested it on 3 different host methods,

first one was using Torch (a modified version of a Space Engineers Dedicated server)

second one was a Vanilla Dedicated server downloaded via steamCMD

and the 3rd one was a hosted singleplayer world.

all tested methods had an empty star system world with no mods installed

the issue appears if a client tries to change a spotlight range.

the range wont sync with the server and this error comes up:

Thread: 1 -> Warning: Validation of sync value ID 9 failed.
on a singleplayer hosted world, the values sync with other people if the host adjusts the range values but not if a client changes the value.

to recreate:

install and start a dedicated Server (or host your game and let a friend join you as a client)

create a new world (i used the star system world)

spawn on the moon with the rover to have access to a spotlight directly

if the spotlight range value gets changed by a client you will get the error.

(as a side note, even though this is closed i still answered here because this is the first result on google if you search for "space engineers Keen: Validation of sync value ID 9 failed.")
