Game freezes after adjusting sound settings

Tim S shared this bug 2 years ago
Won't Fix

This happens often - not every time, but often enough to make me think it's not just my system issues. Sometimes when I pause the game (via Escape key) and alter my sound settings, I go back to the SE window and hit escape again to unpause, and nothing happens. I've tried closing other windows, etc. System monitor shows that nothing is pegged, although the Space Engineers executable is using more memory and GPU than usual. Right now it's been hung for a good 5 minutes, and GPU is at 80% and memory is 1.5GB. There are other times this can happen when not changing sound settings, but that seems pretty rare. 95% of the time it's a change to sound settings -- although that may be what I do most often while playing SE, I'm not sure. (The tools are so loud!)

I was able to get Windows to Create a Dump file for the Space Engineers.exe process, but it's 11.5GB, and I don't believe I'll be able to upload that. Not sure if that would be helpful.

Hello, Tim!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. The best way for us to have a look would be to provide a log file from when this happens. Please provide a log from a mod-free world.

You can access your log files by typing %appdata% into your Windows search bar and you will be redirected to the hidden Roaming folder. After that just follow: \Roaming\SpaceEngineers.

Thanks Laura - I will try and reproduce it mod-free, and if I can do so, will attach the log. Thanks again!
