Attempting to paint or place block with #0E0E0E instead does #0D0D0D

Reported

This is a major problem, as previously it was possible to paint with #0E0E0E. Right now, if you color pick #0E0E0E, it color picks correctly. However, the block you actually place or paint is #0D0D0D, which causes armor edge lines. I have tested this in both unmodded and modded worlds, and restarted the game.

Also note: this does NOT matter whether you are in mirror build mode or not, so it is unrelated to the previous bug I submitted. The game is literally placing and painting colors that are different than what is indicated in the P menu.

Hello, NovaEngine!

Sorry to hear you're experiencing issues. I've just had a look at this and I can get this to not change to #0D0D0D if I uncheck 'use color to repaint' and 'use skin to repaint' can you please try this? :)

Kind Regards

Hello, Laura. At least in my tests, I was unable to get it to not change to #0D0D0D under any circumstances. This definitely needs to be looked into. While, on the surface, this seems extremely minor, a flaw like this is usually indicative of a fundamental problem which can turn into much more serious issues.

How did you manage to get the block painted #0E0E0E in the first place, to pick it?

This was a blueprint. It had been done in the past. So somewhere along the line the ability to paint in that hex value was lost. Oh, you can set the sliders and everything to it, but it won't paint in it. This this is indicative that there is a MAJOR fundamental bug in the painting system that will DEFINITELY cause major issues down the line if not addressed. I've been having some very "weird" painting results recently as I've been updating older ships, but mostly stuff I haven't been able to narrow down to something I could write a bug report on. This, though, is concrete. And if it's doing this it means there's something fundamentally broken.

Hello, NovaEngine!

Could you please provide a video of the issue with both unchecked ('use color to repaint' and 'use skin to repaint')

Kind Regards

I provided all the information you need. PLEASE do not ignore this. This is a major problem and indicates a fundamental issue with the painting system.

Hello, NovaEngie,

even though this issue is rather old now, can you please confirm that it is still happening to you?

While it seems that you are right (as I can not tell the difference between #0E0E0E and #0D0D0D in game), I also can not tell that the colour is different, as I can not paint anything with the other colour to see the difference.

Can you please provide some blueprint that is painted with #0E0E0E where I can try to pick the color/paint it with "current" #0E0E0E and see that there are edges, because it is actually using #0D0D0D?

Do you also have any idea when this might change in the past? I was unable to find the game version, where these two colours was separated, unfortunately.

If you could provide such blueprint and information, it would be great help!

Thanks.

Kind Regards

Here you go. The approaches to the main hangars are #0E0E0E. I am in the process of updating and finishing it with the original author's permission and ran into that problem.
