Unable to build from ship cockpit

As the title says, I am unable to build from the cockpit of a ship. This started today with the release of the Warfare II update.
When attempting, it says "Unable to place <insert block name here>." It cannot be placed on existing grids, into voxels or even in the void of space.
How I replicated the issue: create new world, spawn a cockpit, enter the cockpit, enter CTRL-G menu and attempt to place a light armor block.
